Baby's First Cruise! My Liberty Photo Review #2

Recommended Posts

Because there were so many things that looked really good, we all decided to order a little of everything we wanted and share our plates.

Conch fritters. Sweet and savory. As good as I remembered.

Grilled Jerk Wings. GET THESE! Oh my goodness, they were absolutely delicious. I think we got 3 orders of these. Wes still talks about them! They're one of his favorite foods- ever!

Heirloom tomato salad with gorgonzola and champagne vinaigrette. We couldn't stop eating this one. I tried to replicate it at home, but it's hardly the same. Perfect salad.

My favorite- Crab Cake BLT. Again, as good as I remembered. Lots of fresh lump crab, goes perfectly with the smoky bacon. Yum.

I think Isaac enjoyed the view. LOL Actually it was okay- he slept peacefully through the entire meal. We got to savor our heavenly lunch :)

This review has been awesome! And your little man is 'cray cray tots adorbs'! Liberty is supposed to be coming our way next year (Galveston) and i was looking for a recent review for her. She looks awesome and your review really did her justice. I can't wait to sail her. Unfortunately I'm looking at December 2015:eek:

Thanks for sharing and tell Isaac that he's got a fan club on CC! LOL!

Hi Tamara! Thank you so much, I'm glad the review was helpful. I hope the time flies before your cruise! We have to wait over a year to cruise again too, sigh. I told Isaac he's 'famous,' lol. Happy cruising! :)

I love your food porn and I also take food pics whenever I can, which is all the time now! What kind of camera do you have? takes true to color pics and so clear - my food pics are ok but not as bright and clear as yours -

I have a Canon Rebel T3i. A gift from Wes when we found out Isaac was on the way. I wanted to be sure to have clear photos of him. It's a great camera!

Thank You - I love Canons - I use simple one and I also have a semi fancy one ... love the way both take pics in low light and how clearly the zoomed shots are - esp during the shows onboard when you cannot use flash - Yes, your pics are all nice and clear! Host Corkey
Hi Chrystal - I enjoyed your review with Isaac's first cruise. I met you through cruise critic 3yrs years ago as you were so helpful answering my cruise questions and also we're NJ neighbors (I live in Ewing) . We are also Facebook friends. One day we can meet in person. I remember you posted on Facebook that you and Wesley are expecting. Now he's one years old. Wow. He is so adorable. May God bless you and your family.

Thanks Host Corkey! My next purchase will be a waterproof camera. I want a good one. We're going to Jamaica in October, and visiting the Secret Falls. I wouldn't dare bring my good Canon on that trip, hehe! But the water there is supposed to be gorgeous, and the photos I've seen so far don't seem to capture the color that vividly. I hope to do so :)

Happy cruising to you! Small world. Walkers Wood seasoning is all over the place in Falmouth. Lucky you cruising to soon! We have over a year before we cruise again.

OMGoodness, I'm so glad to have stumbled upon another fabulous review by you, Chrystal. Congratulations on your beautiful blessing. He's absolutely adorable. I'm glad that I found the review--I've also had a baby since your last review and had been thinking I wouldn't cruise until he was much older. This shows me that it's completely doable with a little one! I'm totally taking pages from your book, and making note of all of the helpful hints. It looks like you guys had a PERFECT vacation. Thanks for taking the time to share your tips. ;)

Congratulations on your little one, iriegirl!!! How exciting :D

I'm glad the review is helpful as you plan cruising with your little guy. It's certainly a different type of vacation. It was nice not having to cook or clean (well, except for cleaning up after Isaac, lol). We could relax and completely focus on our boy. I think he could sense that mommy was much more relaxed. It's worth it to us, wouldn't trade the memories for anything. Happy cruising!!

Thank you Judy! We did get to relax. It was nice being able to enjoy naptime with Isaac since we're usually at work when he's napping. A much more leisurely pace than at home. I'm missing the ship now. I think that's why we booked a 12-nighter for our next cruise, lol.

Thank you so much for this wonderful and very informative review
We will be on the Liberty in four days with our pesky toddler LOL. we've cruised with her before but first on RCCL

Did you find it hard to give Isaac a bath without a bathtub?

You mentioned that you went to Sorrentos for lunch on embarkation day - is it free? I heard some specialty restaurants are free on embark day? or is this not really a specialty restaurant? lol

Did you use the nursery or the tot program? Can you tell more about it please

I had one more question but forgot ... i might bug u again when I remember lol

Hi Purplethorn!
Actually, I found bathing Isaac to be pretty easy. We used Clorox wipes to clean the surface of the shower area and gave it a good, hot rinse. Then we took a towel and spread it on the bottom of the shower, and sat him down. Soaped him up, used the handheld to rinse him off. Easy, and he had fun, lol.

Sorrento's is included in your cruise fare. It's not really considered a specialty restaurant...more of a complimentary venue. Enjoy!

Sorry, we didn't use the nursery. I found a couple threads about the program. These should help:

Feel free to ask questions, I'm happy to help. I envy you with just four days to go! :)

So, um...yeah. Today I booked the Liberty for April 06, 2015. It'll be a bunch of firsts for my Sebastian. This trip will be part girls trip (w/babies) and part bridal shower for my cousin, who'll be bringing her little one as well. I'M SO EXCITED. Chrystal, I may be reaching out to pick your brain from time to time. ;-)

What a beautiful name! I love the name Sabastian. He's a lucky little guy to be cruising so young. Feel free to reach out with questions, I'm happy to help you plan! :D

I turned Platinum with the Crown and Anchor Society during the cruise. When we got back to the room, my Platinum Pin was on the bed:

First off..I just noticed this review today...Great review!!! (I know it's a little late) Lovely family! Your little one is sooo cute and in the picture of you holding him right in front of you on the beach..in Cozumel..he looks just like you!

Now for my question..I did not realize that C&A acknowledged a change in status while on a cruise..On our next Oasis cruise in August we will become Platinum too (only 1 point to go!) Should we be looking for a pin and notification too? Thanks for your help.

PS..I loved your dress in Cozumel..do you remember where you bought it? Thanks again!

Hi Chrystal, Just came across your review & OMG, your son is SO CUTE! Your pictures are great & I'm loving your review. Loved the picture of your room at the hotel where you can see the park on the other side, which is Birch State Park, brought back alot of memories for me. I lived in that park for over a year as my Dad was a park ranger there! So it was nice to see that. One funny thing about that is I was a majorette in school & I was fooling around one day on the seawall with my baton & dropped it in the intercoastal, my Dad made me go in & look for it, which of course I never found it! :o

Again, thanks for all your reviews, I think I've read just about all of them. Happy Easter to you & your family. :)

Haha! Thank you so much! I didn't realize I would receive a Platinum pin either. From what I read, I thought it would come in the mail when I got home. I think you should expect to receive it after the cruise. That way, you'll be pleasantly surprised if they do give it to you when you're onboard.

Thank you! I love that dress. Got it a few years ago at Forever 21. I haven't seen anything like it since.

Thank you Chrystal for your quick reply..one more question...You said you when you boarded you were able to board where the platinum C&A's board? How were you able to do that if you were not platinum until this cruise? I'd like to try to take advantage of this when we board, if possible. Thanks!
