Getaway Questions: Ask 'Em Here!

Recommended Posts

Hmmm...I wonder if you could call down to the front desk from your cabin instead of standing in line. The line also might not be too bad if you go on the first day when everyone else is having lunch.

Side note: I see you're a Flyers fan. Did you catch the game today? It was a good one!

I have arranged for ADA assistance to embark/disembark. That combined with the fact that we will arrive at the port by 10:00 or so has me feeling a lot more comfortable about things... Either way, we will have a fantastic cruise...

Clem, you will probably be able to board first, even before group 1. On our Getaway cruise in February, our DS had a hairline fracture of the leg and was using crutches. He and his wife were seated near the doors to the boarding ramp with others who had a mobility impairment. We were all allowed to board a few minutes before they called group 1, so you have an excellent chance to hoof it to Guest Services to get your pass.

Thank you for the info. There will be three of us in the group. I will most likely have my son go to the GSD and get the Vibe passes. I really want to make this a special cruise for my wife. She was recently diagnosed with Huntington's Disease and this may well be our last family event before she can't do things like this any more.

Do you happen to know if the fireworks display is directed more towards the port or starboard side of the ship?

Also, which side provides the greatest scenic viewing while under way (port or starboard)?

Awesome photos and feedback on the Humidor cigar lounge. Mahalo.

Can you let me know if they allow cigarette smoking in the cigar lounge (I hope not...).

LOL

Non smokers don't want smokers around

Cigar smokers don't want cigarette smokers around.

Cigarette smokers?

Does anybody know what side of the ship the fireworks are shot off of on the Getaway?

Which side is the best view from a balcony room?

Thanks

They are shot from the port side, aft. You will not be able to see the from any starboard balcony.

When I was on the Breakaway there were not a table and chairs in the cabins, Balcony or Mini suites. This was a little strange for us when we ordered room service and was the only NCL cruise ship that this was the case.

Anyone know if the Getaway has put a little table and two chairs in the cabin? It sure does make eating our room service food easier!

Hi Harriet,

Apart from a small cube-shaped stool under the vanity/desk, you won't find anything like that. Cabins that are balcony or higher will have two chairs and a table outside, though.

They have not. Your choice of seating is the bed, the sofa, or on the balcony chairs. As for a table, I guess you could use the balcony table (really tiny) and the stool under the desk.

Does anyone know if there is chess in O'Sheehan's? My husband and I plan to hang there quite a bit, and if there is a chess game available, that will keep DS happy to be hanging with us.

kasparov v karpov was amazing. it shanged teh way the world championship is played. i still have the newspaper clippings of that form all those years ago.

  • 2 weeks later...

How much in USD is authorized on your credit card for the Getaway to secure your onboard account? For my past sailings it has been $300 on other ships in the fleet. I am just curious to know if it is the same on the Getaway. I have a fairly large amount of pre purchased OBC certificates for my May 31st sailing, and will probably not exceed what I've already purchased.

There's also a TV and a cigar case in the corner, near the door that leads out into the Sunset Bar. Fun note: The man sitting at the table is David Le Batard, the artist who created Getaway's hull design.

He was definitely smoking something when he designed that hull art - but it was no cigar.....
