Yet more Carnival vs Royal ???

I have never seen Carnival enforce a height limit on water slides. My kids love Carnival, especially the slides.

I think there will be a lot of kids on board in February. I think you would find that on Royal as well.

It will be lively by the pool but you can also find some quiet space away from the main pool.

I would definitely get a balcony. That is just another quiet space away when you want it.

If you really wanted to increase your chances of better entertainment I would see how the price on NCL Epic compares to the cruises you are considering.

Have fun!!!

RCCL is better then CCL. is it $1000 better? it is up to the perosn taking the trip. Are you a ship person or an island person ? If you are going for the Islands, then a ship is a ship. If you are going for the ship, RCCL is much better. Carnival new menu looks like you are camping in the MDR. Throwing food at you not serving it. RCCl shows are much better. ice show, much better entainment

We are mid 30's parents with three kids ages 7, 5, and 3.

- How bad is the cigarette smoke smell? The sewer smoke smell?

Cigarette smell only in the casino and the one outdoor area where it was allowed (I think it was one side of the promenade)

- How jam packed is the pool area? Is it crazy loud? Is there anywhere (on deck) to get away from the noise? - Are there issues getting a lounge chair? Or are those stories far and few between?

The Beach Pool area is always busy. There were always spots with two loungers together but not many. My cruise was in the end of April. Aft Pool is MUCH better, so much quieter and a better vibe! If you want to really get away from the noise serenity is fabulous, DH and I never had an issue getting two loungers together and we were up there all the time.

- Going mid February shouldn't be an issue for crowds, will it?

We saw maybe 5 kids during the day...ever...lol I think they were all in Camp Carnival.

- Any restrictions on the waterslides for height?

not sure

- We're not too interested in the nightclubs or late night activities as we're in bed the same time as DS (10-11ish), so that area is irrelevant for us.

- What do you love most about Carnival?

The Spa Cabins...best area on the ship (quiet and smells like spa hahaha). We had a spa inside and I will always pick a spa inside over an oceanview, and they are the same price on average.

Specifically, I was comparing Carnival Breeze to Freedom of the Seas ... the price difference is almost $1000. So any insight whether we should give Carnival a try next time is most appreciated :)

I would do RCL IF it was no more than $200 for our family to go on the same itinerary. We were VERY happy with the Breeze. The only place that felt crowded was the comedy club (I think they do that on purpose to give it a more intimate feel) and as I said the beach pool in the day time but we didn't like the beach pool anyway, we like to relax so aft or serenity hot tubs were more our thing.
