Ykgorbie Posted January 27, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Looks Amazing!!! I always have worried about the splash from the Ocean and it being too wet. Along with people being able to see from above. Do you know if the wraps can be adjoining to other balconies? Don't really get any "splash" from the ocean, but the glass on the railing does get pretty salty ! We sometimes get a small, small amount of soot on the chairs, but just give them a quick wipe if we notice any. Not sure about being able to open the wraps to adjoining cabins....I would guess it depends on the ship. I know on some ships there are only certain ones that they are allowed to open up. And once, I can't remember which cruise it was, we were told by our PVP that our aft balcony definitely could be opened up as our friends were staying next door to us. Well, we got on the ship, went to guest services and the rep pulled out a list of which cabins they could open and ours was not one of them. Kind of disappointing. Ykgorbie Posted January 29, 2014 Author #36 Share Posted January 29, 2014 My apologies for the delay in moving this pictorial review along ! I am a flooring store owner and am currently short staffed and in the midst of Year End. :( (just wanted to get my excuses out of the way before I get flamed for my tardiness;)) ANYWAY....from what I can remember we had Muster Drill not too very long after we boarded. It was the first time that we didn't have to stand outdoors for the drill. Instead, we were to meet in our assigned dining room and for us that meant the Lower Blush. I guess it was just coincidence, but we ended up going in the doors that took straight to the table we had been assigned. Before we left on holidays, I had emailed the maitre'd requesting a table for 2 and also to advise of my wheat allergy. When we left home, I still hadn't received a response so I wasn't sure if my request had been acknowledged. And it wouldn't have been the end of the world if we were seated with others. In any case, my request was acknowledged and we had a wonderful table for 2 by the window. If anyone has any questions regarding the gluten-free diet I have to abide to (no flamers please....I absolutely HAVE to abide to it - I know !), I will be most happy to answer them, but suffice to say that Marketta was beyond wonderful helping me with my meal choices. I have nothing but good things to say about how accommodating she and the maitre'd were. They got themselves a well deserved nice tip from us after two weeks on the ship! I can't remember what we had for dinner the first night - if I remember right, I just ordered white rice, a plain chicken breast and steamed veggies. Had to "wing it" until Marketta came around later in the dinner with my choices for the next days' meals. Spent some time in the casino after dinner. My hubby hadn't been playing at this one machine for 10 minutes when he won....$ 2100.00 !!! It was awesome and so not expected ! Unfortunately, the next morning, our first Sea Day, we awoke to this: ...which soon turned into this : And I will be back with more, hopefully later this evening. Ykgorbie Posted January 29, 2014 Author #42 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Thanks you your posts, we will be in the same room in 11 days. Any tips? Things you wish you would have bought with you? Oh, you're going to love the room ! At least we did. I didn't feel like we'd forgotten anything this time (I seem to suffer from acute over-pack-itus), but my top 3 list of things not to be forgotten are: 1) Over the door hanging toiletries bag, it frees up so much of the precious space on the bathroom counter 2) Tervis Cup. I have a larger one, well, not the gorilla sized one, lol, but it holds a good cup of coffee or a good sized drink. 3) My own blowdryer. I have thick, unruly hair and the dryer they have in the drawer on the short cord - well, let's just say we don't get along.:p Have fun on your cruise. In my room, LOL

Ykgorbie Posted January 29, 2014 Author #44 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Nov 5/13...Grand Turk This would be our second time to Grand Turk and we love it ! The first time we were here, we had booked a Snorkel and Rays excursion. My husband was starting to enjoy snorkeling (I can't see 3" in front of my face without my glasses, so wasn't into snorkeling) and I was elated to be up close with the rays. We went to Gibb's Cay and it had the most beautiful water I have ever seen. Anyway, back to this cruise. We didn't book an excursion this time. The weather was warm, but a bit drizzly at times. As we pulled into Grand Turk: I had read about Topher the resident dog at Jack's Shack, so we walked down the beach. It was maybe a 10 minute slow walk. Had a drink at Jack's Shack and bought a t-shirt : ....and then saw Topher ! He is so funny - I was giggling my head off watching him dig for sand critters. I don't know if these are imaginary or not, we didn't see Topher strike it rich with all his digging. I have THE funniest video of him too - how do I post a video on here ? Ykgorbie Posted January 30, 2014 Author #49 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Nov.6th took us to Ocho Rios. We had been there before and had done a ship excursion. Don't know why, but we decided to forego the excursion this time and just go and walk around a bit and try the beach right by the ship. I should mention that since our last cruise, I had invested in a prescription mask for snorkeling - best investment ever ! Well, we finally made it to the beach, grabbed a drink and planted ourselves down on a vacant piece of sand. We chatted a bit with a very nice couple from Ontario, Canada who were sitting nearby and agreed to "look after" each others belongings as we took turns swimming/snorkeling. I think we all got some peace of mind from that.... I think Jamaica is such a beautiful country but I get really tired of being constantly hassled by pushy vendors. This beach was full of them. BUT, there was a law in place that forbade them from coming up on the beach. (and there was a uniformed cop there patrolling) That meant that the vendors waded in the water, barely in the water, but enough so that they weren't considered to be on the beach.....and yelled at us, over and over again, to buy something...."respect" "respect".....it was so bad that I relented and gave one of them (they were all selling the same necklaces made out of coffee beans) $$ for 2 necklaces. Anyway, my husband was so turned off that he told me he doesn't care if he ever gets off the ship again there. Sadly, I'm not sure I disagree with him. Snorkeling was an experience there. We found a bracelet, half of a chair, some underwear, an undershirt, and a shoe while snorkeling. Hmmmmm Some pics taken from Ocho Rios:
