Wow, Spirit Class layout is really different

Lots of nooks and crannies on these ships. Took a saiing on a second sister to find the lounge under the show lounge. It quickly became our favorite class, but I'm surprised they didn't make more. Seems there are sisters on other Carnival Corp lines though.

The Spirit Class Ships are awesome. In my opinion, the best laid out ships in Carnival's fleet. Like has been posted already, never feels crowded and very easy to get anywhere you want to go. Too bad the Conquest Class with many more passengers doesn't have this much pool space. Been on the Pride, Miracle, and sailing the Legend in April.

I was looking at the deck plans of various ships and was shocked to see the layout of the public areas on the Spirit Class ships. Dance and Comedy Club on Riveria next to cabins!! Two level promenade level, atrium in middle of the ship. What are your thoughts on these ships?

I've only ever sailed on the Pride so I can't compare it to the other classes. No complaints. I really like the 4k cabin, it has french doors that open for sunlight & a breeze, it is the size of a balcony room & it is priced similarly to the insides.

I love the Spirit class ships. I've been on the Miracle and the Legend. The Serenity area is great. It's nice to have a whole pool only for adults. Also the club on the Riviera deck is cute. On the Miracle it's an Alice in Wonderland theme. There are some nice areas to hang out like the interior and upper promenades. I'm sad that they're sending the Legend to Australia. I know the trend is to go for the bigger ships now, but the Spirit class ships seem like a perfect size to me. Sad to lose two of them.

Yes, if you do any reading on other boards (like the Cabin Selection board), many people have commented that they heard no noise from the disco on Riviera.

After I hit Milestone, I hope to switch to HAL cruises. I'll be old enough by then. :p

I just booked last Friday for 5/4 (no single supplement!!!) so there weren't many insides available. My PVP suggested a cabin, but I use a website that has the drag-able decks and saw that it was right under the Jazz Club. Recalling that on Miracle, the area on the Starboard side was very quiet at night, I suggested one of those that's under the coffee shop.

Looking at the port calendar for May, I realized that the "normal" passenger load for Pride is only slightly more than Fantasy-class ships. So, a larger, better-designed ship with basically the same number of passengers? Yeah, I'll take Spirit-class any day.

I haven't sailed Pride yet because the prices to "only" go to the Bahamas were significantly higher than I was paying on Fantasy, which is normally higher than from FL. I didn't sail Legend because the Western itineraries on her always seemed to be more than other ships.

What I'd love would be for Charleston to finally get their act together, build the new cruiseport, and move Pride there. :D

Yes! I'm in SC and I'd love to have a larger, newer ship based in Charleston.

I'm one of the minority who prefers Conquest-class to Spirit-class; I just feel as if I spend a lot of time going from one end of the ship to the other - and up and down on decks 2 and 3 - to do things at night. However, as you can see from my signature we've sailed on all the Spirit-class ships except Spirit herself and will be back on Miracle this summer. The layout with the forward cabins especially is odd, since you have public spaces on decks 1-5 forward. The one area I would recommend avoiding, if you are an early-to-bed type, is deck 5 forward. That's Camp Carnival, and when the parents all show up to collect kids in the evening you can get some noise.

I went on the Spirit when it first came out, I did not like the layout of the Lido deck and there is no bar on the promenade deck, however I have not been on any other spirit class ships so I do not know if the layout is the same.

I'm not sure what you mean by "bar"? I was on the Spirit 3 times and have since been on the Legend and the Miracle. All 3 of them have several bars on the Promenade deck. Starting from front to back, there is a bar in the jazz club and another in the sports bar right next door. There is a bar in the Casino. There is a bar in the Atrium. There is a bar in the nightclub (tho not open except at night), and another one just outside the artists lobby.

We just came off the Miracle last month. We were on her for 15 days and we were getting lost and turned around until about day 12. LOL Most people on here seem to think the Conquest class and Dream class are confusing but I found the Miracle much more so. I think part of the issue for me was that there are basically 2 promenade decks. Very confusing! Once you get the hang of it though it's okay, it just took a while!

I did like the lido deck layout better and I also liked how the comedy club was directly below the show lounge. It made it so easy to go from one show to another quickly.

I think Carnival needs more spirit class ships personally. I find them incredibly easy to navigate and no place on the ship ever seems crowded.

Ditto! I love the Spirit class - have been on Legend twice, Spirit once and am sailing on Miracle in a month and a half. They never feel crowded, are the perfect size for me, and have a great layout. Other than the no-longer-with-Carnival Holiday, any of the Spirit class ships are my all-time favorite Carnival ships. :)

Carnival will NEVER have more ships like the Spirit-class. It just isn't their thing. As I noted earlier, those 4 ships were originally intended for a different line. Carnival seems to be trying to get them out of the US market as quickly as they can. :(

They want more Giant Floating Shoebox ships that they can cram more people into that have crappy space ratios! Spirit-class ships have a very good space ratio. Like I said, the Spirit-class ships are considerably larger than Fantasy class yet the passenger load is only marginally more. Basic math tells you that means more space per passenger.

Let's face it folks. You aren't going to get longer, more intesting itineraries on nicely-designed, less crowded ships with Carnival. It isn't in their business plan. If that's what you want, you'll have to go with a different line (like HAL).

We were on the same cruise but had been on her once before so were more familiar with her. I would not hesitate to sail on her again but not out of the west coast, we're back to the Carribean for now.

Yay! Someone else who understands where I'm coming from! I only had 8 days. It wasn't enough to get used to where things were. Even some crew members didn't know where the waterslide was. Other Carnival ship styles were easy; I was used to where everything was (and how to avoid the evil kitchen blockade) by the end of the 2nd day. Despite the confusing layout of Spirit class ships, they are far less crowded than other Carnival ships. Great for a quiet, relaxing cruise.

Love it :)

4 of my 7 cruises are on a spirit class ship.

I should also add, if you plan on getting an extended Bal. Cabin. see if 7258 is available You wont regret it :)

Another aft hint.

Take the stairs up to the lido deck, but don't go out to the Buffet area.

Come off the stairs and make a U turn

Go thru the doors and the serenity area is just waiting for you :)

Enjoyed 7258 on the Miracle a couple of years ago on the 8 Day Exotic Southern "Saints' Cruise. Carnival doesn't do this itinerary anymore and it was great. This was our best cabin EVER!!! HUGE balcony made for some gorgeous sunset sailaway pics!
