bigdawg_cb Posted February 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2014 So I am trying to figure the cheers program out. So they cut you off after 15 drinks I understand, but can you buy drinks after that? Or before it is maxed out could you buy some of the drinks out right so they don't cut you off? I don't know if I will drink that much or not but 15 on a sea day is not unrealistic spaced out, I mean it is vacation. I don't really want to be cut off right when the night life begins. gtaylor Posted February 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2014 My understanding is that after 15 you are cut off completely, even for purchase outside the program, and can't purchase additional even before the cutoff. Some have reported differently. On the Miracle, I know that at 12 or so they would report how many were left on the program. The only work-around I've heard of is to purchase a couple buckets of beer to stockpile BEFORE you buy the Cheers Program. gary
GINGERWILDCAT Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2014 We were on the Valor a couple of weeks since, we got our print out and on our sea day the wife and I had 32 drinks and we're never warned or refused drinks.

My 24 year old met his 15 drink max the first night and continued to drink (buying the drinks) after the max. The bar manager on the Breeze said the exact opposite of your bar manager--they said there was no way to put a stop on buying drinks after the 15 free ones from Cheers. So who knows-they must have it set up different on each ship--crazy :):)
evanAction Posted February 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2014 We were on the Freedom in February. Once you hit 15 you were cut off until 6AM....couldn't purchase any more. The only way to do it is if you get up to 13 or 14 start purchasing. Long pool days on sea days + drinks at dinner + late night casino action = exceed 15 drinks for us....sea days were the ONLY day we came close to getting cut off / cut off. YMMV Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Forums mobile app
Tampa cruiser1963 Posted February 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2014 You can purchase a bottle wine from the bar (with a 25% discount) before you hit the 15 drink limit, and it does not count against that total. Once you hit that limit, no alcohol purchases until 6:00am when the cycle starts over.
scuddles Posted February 25, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Is it 15 per day? If so...... I thought I drank a lot. :D lol. But really they didn't have this program when I last sailed. How much is it? and are any type of drinks available?
evanAction Posted February 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2014 General rule of thumb: any drinks under $10 and soda are included. Exceptions apply. Roughly $57 per day per person in cabin, everyone over 21 in cabin must purchase. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Forums mobile app
hassellcastle Posted February 25, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Can you buy shots with the cheers program?
Dare2Believe Posted February 25, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Can you buy shots with the cheers program? Yes you can. It just counts as one of your 15 drinks. We were told on the Fascination that under no circumstances would you be served any more than 15 drinks a day, even if you wanted to pay full price after you hit 15. Seems like it varies by ship, but it really should be the same everywhere. I wouldn't go into it thinking "oh, I'll sweet talk them into letting me have more than 15" because it might not happen. Each person (over 21) can bring a bottle of wine on board...might want to do that if you're concerned with the 15 maximum. bigdawg_cb Posted February 27, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted February 27, 2014 Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'll end up getting it and buy a couple buckets of beer before hand just in case and it's always nice to have a few beers in the room while I wait for my wife to get ready...... well if I'm going to wait that long maybe I need more than a couple buckets of beer. lol
Toesinthewater728 Posted February 27, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 27, 2014 I'm concerned that this is my favorite topic: My tips on Cheers: 1) On sea day you can bring a bottle of wine on... This will help compensate for the 15 limit. 2) free drinks from the casino do not count (if you gamble you can obtain this by asking nicely to be rated). 3) buckets of beer... Only 1 of the 4 beers is charged to your cheers program 4) bottles of wine at dinner do not count I maxed out on embarkation day, and my two sea days. The comp drinks from the casino got me through it.
grotm Posted February 28, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 28, 2014 I am considering the cheers program too. If you purchase cheers, are you still allowed to purchase from Bon Voyage? Would they have it in your cabin when you arrive?

Would they have it in your cabin when you arrive? Yes, one may purchase from Bon Voyage (in advance of cruise) in addition to the Cheers! program (purchased on board only). Yes, your Bon Voyage purchase will be in your cabin when you embark, unless you leave out of Galveston, in which it could be delivered as early as late evening, but more likely the next morning. Texas is stuck in the 1800's with their alcohol laws. Colonel Angus Edited February 28, 2014 by Colonel Angus

Colonel Angus Posted February 28, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 28, 2014 Does Cheers work on HMC? It is there island and all :) Cheers! is not offered on Half Moon Cay or Little Stirrup Cay. Colonel Angus believes this is because many of the beverage waiters on the island have to hand write receipts for beverage purchases which are posted to your Sail & Sign after they return to the ship at the end of the day, meaning they have no way to verify if one is near or have exceeded the daily limit of beverages. Regarding those laws, does that apply to the cheers program also? And if so do they then charge you for 1 less day?
