You will love the room. Your room steward is great. She cleaned out our fridge and had the ice bucket filled everyday. She also made us towel animals everyday.

Track down Dody on the Lido deck he will take care of you all week.

Have a great cruise you will love it.

Thanks, I was wondering if there was a fridge in the room and you answered it... BTW, do they have the new menu yet? We cruise frequently and are not sure if they have added it to the Freedom yet.

Don't know if it is a new menu. Lobster was on the 2nd night (formal night). Prime Rib on the 2nd formal night. Always something good to eat at supper

Hi all,

Just back from the Carnival Freedom on Sunday. It was fantastic!

Let me start by saying that this was my 8th cruise (5th on Carnival) and it was by far the best. Carnival has really stepped up their game and placed thought into many areas.

All my pics are on a you-tube video folks. Here is the link

Here we go:

Carnival Freedom - Great ship! It will be even better with the upgrades coming next month.

I had no problem navigating around the ship. Many people have complained that they get lost because of the design. In no way was it hard to navigate around the ship (use deck 5 or 9). No Problem! Our cabin was 9240 on the Lido deck, the interior cabins are basically the same on all ships so I had no problems at all with our cabin. Being on the Lido deck was great!

Staff - Awesome. All of the staff were fantastic. Room Steward great! Special shout out to Dody (waiter on the Lido Deck) and Vladimir (in the Piano Bar) to awesome waiters.

Food- Great never had an issue with any of the food. Always great selection and fresh. Mongolian Wok was very good, Pizza was very good and the Deli was great. Posh Dining room waiters were friendly, helpful and entertaining. They always asked if we wanted more. I particularly liked the extra plate of Lobster! I didn't have to ask they asked me.

We had FTTF so it literally took 10 minutes to get on board at 12 noon. FTTF was worth the 50 bucks. The only place that was really smoky was the casino. Other than that we stayed on our side of the ship and was not bothered by it. 8 days on board was great 4 days at sea and 4 in port. I would definitely do another 8 day cruise, I really liked having the extra day.

Punchliner Comedy club was very good. I am so glad they upgraded the comedy on their ships. We had a great time in the comedy club. Scott's Piano Bar was lots of fun and the on deck parties were great. I do not know why people complain about this ship or their cruise. It was all around fantastic, no complaints here.

Grand Turk - Margaritaville and Flow Rider. Great beach day lots of fun.

Dominican Republic - Seavis Saona island tour - Awesome - Big up to Ingrid our guide

Aruba - Palm Beach by cab. Rented umbrellas, chairs, big mable and parasailing from fun4every1.com - I recommend them they are true professionals. Aruba was breathtaking.

Curacao - Rented a van from Avis and drove to Playa Lagun. Snorkelling of the beach was great. Some of the best snorkelling I have ever done.

That is it folks short and sweet. I would be happy to answer any of your questions. It was an awesome cruise, I would definitely go on the Freedom again. Haters please do not ask questions as I have nothing but great answers for the cruise critic members. No complainers please!

Make sure you check out my video on you tube.

Cant Wait till March Break next year on the Valor.

Awesome video! We sailed the Freedom in 2012 and we all agreed that it was our best cruise to date. I find it amazing that you were holding the camera/pole while parasailing.

Great review and video. We will be on The Freedom in May. Can you please tell me what the pole you used to take video with is called. Also, was it safe to drive in Curacao? Thanks.

I used a GoPro Hero 3 you can mount them on basically anything. I had a hand held extension pole it was mounted on. You can flip it to take selfies or to shoot in format of you.

Definitely safe to drive in Curaçao. One major road so you can't get lost. The supermarket we went to was awesome. They had all the junk food you can't get on the ship. I actually brought back Doritos and other chips to have on the ship for movie night on the deck. There were not very many cars on the road. Driving in Curaçao was actually one of my favourite highlights of the trip.

I held it for 30 minutes so I have the whole flight filmed. My arm was tired at the end. Thanks for the kudos on the video.

Do you mind telling me the name of your camera extender? Since watching your video I have been online searching for one, but none of them look as sturdy as yours.

THANKS for sharing your great experience and AWESOME VIDEO! We were on Freedom 6 day last summer and liked it so much we are going on an 8 day this June 1, w' different stops than yours. ....but seeing your video and reading the comments has really got me excited.

I want to ask you about the Piano Bar and entertainer. My wife and I loved the piano bar last year, but it was a different entertainer (Marty Gast). Could you tell me about the piano bar entertainer on your cruise and did you enjoy?

Also, did you visit the bar just outside the Piano Bar Lounge and have any of Nuur's fantastic martini's?:):)

The Piano Bar entertainer was very good. He was in one of the pictures at the end of the video. Larry Moynahan (I probably spelled it wrong) took our requests and was very good. We had a couple of really good parties in their during the first two nights, but it gets old quick because it is the same thing night after night. I recommend you only go once or twice to keep it special. We went a third night and it just was not the same.

I did visit the bar outside the Piano Lounge, no Martina's though. I was on a Mojito kick that night. I am jealous you are going back on board, it was a great trip.

Thanks. It's just so nice to hear you say it is a great ship, even without the upgrades.

Don't know when they will let people in know what the upgrade will be

Either way your gonna have a great time. I think you will have the upgrades by the time you get on board. The staff is great so no matter, upgrades or not you should have a great time.

Wow, great video! I'll have to get one of those cameras, too. It's about time for an upgrade anyway!

They released the full upgrades to us.

-moving the hottubs to make the Lido more open with a bigger pool

-guys burger joint

-new water slides etc

Some pretty significant changes

Shhhh. You've just spilled Carnival's most deeply held secret! Never mind Coca-Cola's secret formula, the Freedom upgrades are Top Secret! :)

Did they mention the Blue Iguana Cantina, or just the Pub?

LOL - yes, this thread did just that! (since the other thread was zapped) I thought the drydock was only for 2 weeks. Can't figure out how they will make the Lido pool larger in that time period?? That seems like major construction to me. Great video, btw. I am so amazed at how professional it looks with that gopro. How long does it take to edit something like that?

Did they happen to mention anything about there being a change in the Freedom's home port?

Sent from my SCH-R530U using Forums mobile app

They never mentioned the change to the home port, sorry.

I still do not know why they are keeping things such a secret. It was announced to everyone that can hear it on the ship. Strange, why keep it a secret at this late date.

They only mentioned the pubs being changed, I do not know about the cantina. They currently have bars on either side of the Lido deck near the pool. I figure they will be changing those into the pubs.

Thanks for the Kudos on the video.

I took approx 2 hours to edit the video. I have so much footage it was very hard to choose what to place in it.

thanks for the review. does Freedom have an adult pool area in the back? also, Can you tell me about the Serenity area? how was the volume on Lido?

Thanks!

Freedom does have an Adult pool in the back, it is very nice. The pizza place is there also (very convenient).

The Serenity area was very nice. I was thoroughly impressed with the furniture and how comfortable it was on the serenity deck.

The volume on the Lido was no problem. The ship was full and we always were able to get chairs everyday. Carnival has upped their game, there were many activities going on throughout the ship at the same time. This helped control the crowds on the popular places like the Lido deck. I also love having my cabin on the Lido deck, very convenient.
