1MKS1128 Posted March 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Why doesn't Carnival give credits to cruises taken on its other lines like princess or Holland ? They are all under the Carnival umbrella.
leaveitallbehind Posted March 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Why doesn't Carnival give credits to cruises taken on its other lines like princess or Holland ? They are all under the Carnival umbrella. My guess is because although they are under the same parent company they are all operating as independent companies and profit centers with their own policies, etc. Although owned by the same company they are all different entities and dissimilar from each other as well. Not much different from Royal Caribbean Cruises which owns RCI, Celebrity, and others. Their loyalty programs are separate as well in that points earned on one stay with that line only. However, with RCC, the individual programs do have reciprocity regarding tier level benefits available to their passengers between the different lines. In other words you can enjoy the comparable level benefits on each cruise line based on your loyalty tier level on another, but the points earned stay exclusively with the line you earn them on per cruise. runner15km Posted March 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2014 By law they are separate companies with their own CEO and directors.
Shmoo here Posted March 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Why doesn't Carnival give credits to cruises taken on its other lines like princess or Holland ? They are all under the Carnival umbrella. While they are all "under the same umbrella", as in owned by Carnival Corporation & plc, they are all separate companies. Each brand (company) is awarding loyalty to their brand, not the overall corporation.
SadieN Posted March 26, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2014 You can get the Past Guest rate on any other CCL brand, if available.
paul929207 Posted March 26, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2014 You are confusing Carnival Corporation and Carnival Cruise Lines. Carnival Corp is the holding company that owns Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess, HAL, Costa, etc. Each of these lines has their own repeat customer program that only counts cruises with that line. jocap Posted March 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2014 P&O Princess was one line which merged with Carnival, and has remained as sister companies since then, sharing staff and ships; points have been added at half rate from Princess to my P&O account, but P&O's points were always added at full rate to Princess' accounts.
