After reading several posts on Roatan and Mahogany Bay, we decided to book an excursion through Carnival.

So Glad We Did!

What a beautiful beach.

Well worth the $40p/p

40 minute ride

Buses leave every 15/30 minutes...We stayed as long as we could.

Didn't want to leave!!!!

As soon as you are dropped off, you are given a briefing on the gift shops and what they sell.

You take a little walk through some tropical trees.

At the beach you'll see loungers lined up.

We were lucky to find two under a palm tree.

Only downside to this beach is the beach vendors.

They are lined up along the surf line since they are not allowed to bother you while in a lounger...Only bar staff. They try to sell you their good every time you go into the ocean or come out. Very annoying.

There is a security guard between loungers that walks up and down.

Water is crystal clear....clearest waters we have ever been in.

The view is magnificent.

Tabyana is clean, safe, lush and gorgeous beach.

If you love snorkeling

this is the best place. Saw tons of fish.

They have staff with kayaks to guide you to great spots for free.

(We gave Kevin a hefty tip - well deserved)

Snorkel excursion boats used the same place...and they probably paid double what we paid to get to the beach...

I highly recommend Tabyana Beach.

Awesome place.

Just wondering how many ships were in port that day? The pictures you have in your photobucket of the water shows next to no one in it. Where there not many people there that day? The time we went it was packed.

We were the only ship at port.

Not many people... maybe less than 50

I thought maybe that was the case. When we arrive in November, we will also be the only ship in port. I thought maybe that would be the perfect time to return to West Bay. The last time we were there is was SO crowded-both the beach and the water. With only having 1 ship in port, it looks like we might have a better time. Although...I do remember the pushy people on the beach trying to sell you things and it sounds (by the postings of several) that it might have even gotten worse than (at least the day we were there) before. I really hate to have my vaction spoiled by vendors that you have to tell them more than a few times NO. :( If they only knew that doing this is such a turn off and makes me NEVER want to buy anything from them.... If I want something, I would approach the person that is just sitting/standing there not bothering anyone. That's how you get my attention/money. ;)

So I guess this has given me more to think about. Roatan just has so many beautiful places to visit and it's so hard to decide.

As for the vendors go.... They can be found anywhere....

They weren't pushy at all..They understood the word "no!"

Vendors won't stop me from visiting this beach again...Would go back in a heartbeat!

Hope This Helps. ;)

I usually don't have a problem telling a vendor "no" and going on with my day. I know that some places vendors can be extremely pushy (Jamaica) and it gets annoying. I just know that I have read a lot of reports lately about the vendors being exremely pushy here lately and standing around waiting for you to come off the private property onto the beach and the water over and over again. That gets annoying. :(
