Highly recommend #1 "Chez Leandra" or #2 "Ethnic". Ethnic makes fantastic burgers. Chez Leandra makes great seafood (conch fritters, chowder, etc.), as well as wraps. These places don't look like much but the Owner is usually in the store, and they care!

Another option (and my personal favorite) would be to drop the tour to Orient Beach and just grab a cab to Maho Beach. Eat at the world famous Sunset Bar and watch the up close and personal landing of heavy jets very close to you. But then, we are just not much into tours usually preferring to go our own way. Your mileage may vary.:D:D

Everyone has a different opinion of course. Orient Beach (first picture below) is beautiful and while it can get crowded in some sections it is still very nice for walking and swimming. For a restaurant check out Aloha (look at TripAdvisor). Maho (second picture) is a madhouse of people drinking and looking at planes and while a plane or two is fun it is no place to relax. It all depends on what you want to do.

If you want to go somewhere off of the beach but nearby I HIGHLY recommend Sarafinas

Sarafina's is quite nice but it is in Marigot, a good distance from Orient Beach.
