Older teens on Carnival (Pride)

I am looking at Carnival Pride, but noticed that their youth program ends at 12-15. What do older teens do? My dd will be 16 (nearly 17) and has always enjoyed the teen groups on my past cruises.

Thanks for your input.

thanks lukgr for the reply. I asked the question because Carnival's website only lists childrens groups up to the 12-15 year old. Last time we sailed Carnival she fell into that age group. I would hate to think that the ship had nothing planned for 16-18 year olds-that is not a group I would want to leave totally unsupervised.

They had a wonderful program for 15-17 on the Elation. Their counselor, Ari, was great. We had to force our two boys (15 and 16 ) to come with us at times. Lots of hanging out, dances, halo parties, pizza, and other fun stuff. The club is called 02 and the place they met was "Spirals".

It was my newly turned 12 yo that had nothing to do. He was grouped with the 12-14yo and they had lots of dances--but he is not into girls yet and would have enjoyed halo parties, and sports types of activities.

Is there a teen program onboard?

spacer.gifEach evening, the Disco Dance Club will be open from 9:30pm to 10:45pm for Teens, ages 12-18. At 10:45pm, the music will stop and the lights turned up. The DJ will announce that the disco will re-open at 11:00pm for guests 16 years and older. Guests who are 15 years and younger will be provided with an evening event coordinated with the Youth Staff. This includes such events as a Late Night Movie, Sports Night, Teen Disco and Karaoke, Late Night Swimming Under the Stars and Late Night Teen Buffet.

Guests between the ages of 16-18 years old will be offered an orientation meeting and mixer on the first evening, a Mocktail Party in the disco on the first formal night and a Ping Pong tournament one afternoon during the cruise. The Cruise Staff will conduct this program to enhance this age group's vacation experience.

We have implemented a Teen Shore Excursion Program. Together, the teens choose one tour in each port from our published selection of tours on board that are "Camp-Carnival Recommended", and go as a group. They are chaperoned by a Camp Carnival Counselor. Parental waivers are signed prior to the tour. The price for the tour will be discounted 15%-20% off the regular published rates.

Carnival.com isn't updated with the latest age groups for the teens, although what Chuck posted is mostly true. The new age groups are 12-14 (Camp Carnival) and 15-17 (Club02). My sons, ages 15 and 17, met a lot of friends at Club02 and participated in many of their activities, especially the evening get togethers and dances. There will be a Club02 meeting on the first night. On the Conquest it was at 6pm, so it conflicted with the early dinner times. A lot of teens just popped in to get their schedule and then headed back to dinner. There was another get together that evening so everyone had a chance to meet friends that first night. And, they've added a lot to the program, so there will be more than what's stated above (ping pong tournament, mocktail party, mixer). There will actually be daily activities; games in the daytime and dances/kareoke at night. She should have a great time.

we just got off the Spirit and there was indeed a teen counselor and activities. My 17 year old met many new friends and had a great time.

Since the Pride is a Spirit class ship, I am sure the same programs are onboard.

We will find out March 12th!!!

What time do the Club O2 activities really get going? Is it better to have an early dinner seating so they don't miss out, or is this group of teens more late-night oriented? We have a 15 year old, and he'll be happy to know he's with the older group, rather than the 12-year-olds.

What about our 19-year-old son. What's the college-kid scene on Carnival? We'd be on Liberty

BAlto: My expeience only....... we had the 6:15 seating and it was perfect for our 15 and 16 year olds. Several people we met had late seating and asked to be changed because of their teenagers' activities. They start hopping around 8pm. These guys had a ball! :)

I also had my 19 year old with me. He had a little more trouble. He could go to the casino but not drink (OK with us!:D ) He went to the one and only 18+ single get together and NO ONE was there! He waited with his 22 yo brother for 45 minutes and a couple of already formed groups (group of 2 and 3) showed up and danced in their group. At the end of the cruise we met another 19 year old young man who attended Notre Dame U who spent his week "Helping" his 14 yo sister becasue he had not met people his age to hang with either. It seemed to me there were kids close to his age, but they often came on board with another person and they just stayed together. He still had a great time and wants to go next yea,r too! Hope you all have fun!

I do think that the 18 - 20 year old crowd have the least offered by the cruiseline. They don't need a "counselor" but some coordination of "get togethers" through out the cruise would be nice.

They do have some get togethers. Unfortunately, it's for ages 18-25, a very big age span. For example, on the first night, the Conquest had an 18-25 singles meet. My 17 year old son had some 18 year old friends that he met on the basketball court. They, sometimes, hung out in Club02, but, for the most part, did their own thing; enjoyed the late night commedians, of course. When his older friends went into the adult disco, he wasn't able to because they "card" at the door. No problem, he had other friends to hang out with.

We also had 6:15 dinner and it was perfect. However, my boys met some friends with late dinner; they just met up with the group later. They do tend to stay up late as most activities didn't end until around midnight, so even with late dinner, your son will be able to enjoy the "scene".

As far as your 19 year old...........if he's into basketball, have him bring his own basketball so he won't have to wait in line at the purser's desk to check one out. He's sure to make instant friends on the sports deck.

Yes it is better for early dining. Most activities for the teens start happening between 8-8:30 (late dinenr) the kids can use their disco until 10:45.. taking late dinner will only allow them in there about half hour.

Teen meeting the first night= make it the most important thing the kids do the first day.

If you have kids in Club02 (ages 15-17) and the ship you are sailing on has a teen center, they will be able to hang out/dance in there until at least midnight. On the Conquest, I didn't hear of any teens using the adult disco at all since they had their own hangout.

Conquest class ships are the only ships that have a teen center. OP was looking for information on the Pride wich does not have a seperate teen area so the teens get the disco until 10:45
