Sam.Seattle Posted May 25, 2014 #51 Share Posted May 25, 2014 Hi Ive asked our tech team to look into this issue. We will update. Just wondering if there really was a problem or just operator error? Looking forward to hearing what the Tech folks have to say.

My goodness, if I were clever enough to engineer a situation like that I could probably be a rocket scientist or a bank Vice President. Imagine. Rare kazu Posted May 25, 2014 #53 Share Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) My goodness, if I were clever enough to engineer a situation like that I could probably be a rocket scientist or a bank Vice President. Imagine. Having worked in the banking industry for more years than I care to count - it really doesn't take that much cleverness to be a bank vice president in many cases;) thank you for the heads up on this internet issue - I will be keeping my eyes open on my next cruise thanks to your warning. summersigh Posted May 25, 2014 #54 Share Posted May 25, 2014 I guess this is what some HAL cheerleaders call progress :). Hank Why would you reply referring to "cheerleaders" unless your goal is to inspire chaos?? Your point was made without inclusion of this sentence.
CaveDiving Posted May 26, 2014 #55 Share Posted May 26, 2014 A unique problem occurred on the Amsterdam during the world cruise this year. During all of the time we were near Africa (about a month,) we could not sign on to Cruise Critic. We could get to the website and read some postings but we could not sign in to leave a posting. This was true for our MacBookPro, iPad, iPhone, the ship’s networked computers and several windows PC’s. The ship’s IT dept. reproduced the problem but couldn’t solve it. When we finally reached Barbados in the Caribbean, the problem disappeared. We haven’t ever found out what was the problem. Scott & Karen

HokiePoq Posted May 30, 2014 #57 Share Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) WOW!!! That's scary - if it is the ship's internet who knows what else that person has access to that you didn't sign out of? FB, bank accounts whatever. Now the real question becomes is it a combination of cc and the ship's internet, the ship's internet or cc? this is really SCARY and thank you for alerting us. I hope it gets rectified and I know if you find what out what caused the problem you will share Wow....it sure is scary and as you said, could be a lot worse than CC. We have never accessed our bank account from a public computer system and now I don't think I ever will try. Would be easier than setting up payments ahead of time for long voyages but better safe than sorry, at least for this less than computer wizard...me. And thanks to the OP for the warning!
