bury me at sea Posted May 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2014 I have checked Carnival FAQ and can't find specific mention of corkscrews being allowed or prohibited. If prohibited will the steward open the wine we bring to our cabin? Thanks.
Ehpride Posted May 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2014 You can bring a corkscrew. I always do and just ask for wine glasses at a bar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
riffatsea Posted May 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Not sure why you'd think they'd be banned? We get wine glasses from a bar or from the MDR and we bring our own corkscrew.
bury me at sea Posted May 18, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Thanks to all of you. We have never taken our own wine before and I wanted to be sure a corkscrew wasn't considered to be a weapon.
Chrisp414 Posted May 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2014 I understand why you think they might be banned - nowadays who knows, right? Anyway, I bring mine in my checked luggage - never had a problem.
Ehpride Posted May 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2014 If you're going on a plane, you can carry on a corkscrew without a blade. So just make sure that the kind you have is allowed in your carryon for TSA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Both of our carry ons were searched thoroughly at the airport and the corkscrew was confiscated. Our bag of sand made it home though. We were starting to wonder! knmcashman Posted May 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2014 I always keep one in my luggage and have never had a problem. If you have a bottle sent to your room, I'm pretty sure they give you one. Sent from my iPad using Forums
bury me at sea Posted May 18, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted May 18, 2014 We are driving so TSA isn't an issue. One of mine has a very short blade to cut the foil. I think I will take the one without the blade. I appreciate all this information. First time I have asked a question and the replies are gratifying. Eight more days! You can take the one with the blade since you are driving to the Port.
heatherlway Posted May 18, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 18, 2014 If you bring your own corkscrew do you still have to pay a corkage fee? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
bury me at sea Posted May 18, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted May 18, 2014 The corkscrew is for wine we bring on board and drink in our cabin. The corkage fee is if you take your own bottle of wine to a restaurant or the dining room to drink with dinner. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct this. Happy cruising.
