Reggie...It's me..LuAnn..and in need of help! Foot is still bad, I have not been able to exercise for months, and I have gained 15 pounds! None of my clothes fit, and I am depressed! Going to the Doc again on Friday...what do you think is the best diet for someone who has to be inactive? How are you? Congrats on your new schedule! LuAnn

Sorry, I've been busy as this is the book a cruise

time of the year. I've been busier than a beaver

and have several groups put together.

Sorry to hear your foot is still not getting better.

The only thing I can suggest is going the low carb

route. It has worked for me, with or without exercise.

I'm now about 3 weeks ahead of my goals.

Down 94 pounds and looking to lose at least

16 more pounds before my May cruise and

10 more before my June cruise.

Hi

I had my 48th birthday Saturday, March 11! What a fantastic ride! My girlfriend gave me a surprize party in my OWN home. I was having a meting upstairs with 3 of my friends (they were in on it) and 15+folks were quietly waiting for me in the basement rec room. I screamed! LOUDLY! What a blast. I have never ever had a surprize birthday party. For her to have pulled that off under my nose-literally-was/is unforgettable. That was Friday night. We had planned a family get together at the Residence Inn. They have nice 2 bedroom suites with the kitchenettes, 2 bathrooms, sitting area. That was lots of fun too. Then Sunday we went to the casino in Detroit, MI. And to top it off I am on vacation this entire week.

So what about the food??? The food was so so. Here's the deal. I did not eat any sugar and/or flour. I drank some--had Vodka and the rocks. I overate cheese and nuts. :( When I checked it out yesterday I was up 5,yes, five whole pounds. I was expecting something, but that blew my hair back. I am happy to say it may have been some water retention from the salt--I was back down 3 pounds. Weigh in is not until Thursday. I am prayerful that my water drinking and exercising the next few days will put me in the no gainer status for the weigh in. But, if it does not, I will not be wondering what happened. LOL I know and it was fun.

Keep up the good work everyone

Happy birthday Natalie!

I had a bad food weekend myself. We were on the run all weekend and at one point I was up quite a bit. I'm up 2 now so my goal of hitting that 40 pound mark by Friday is probably out. I'll miss it by about 4. I hate it when my schedule takes control of me at the last minute. I didn't even have time to grab good snacks before we left. Oh well, hopefully NEXT Friday I will get it done!

Hi

Thursday weigh in------+1/2 pound. Whew! I at 242 even. My goal for next week is 240. I have not been putting 100% into my WOE and definitely not into my WOEX for the last week. It is probably due to the celebrating. And I know in my head that for this to be a lifetime change "special occasions" of any kind must not interfere with my plan. If I slacked off a little I would say OK. But even being gentle with myself requires me to be honest. So I will journal about this week's attitudes and do something different next time. Each time I am on vacation I "say" I am going to really spend some time at the gym and I spend time at the bed.LOL So there has to be a middle ground where I am relaxing and I am taking care of myself no matter what. School will be over for the semester in 4 weeks. I am so happy. I plan to have some cosmetic surgery April 28. I will be off work two weeks and unable to exercise for 6 weeks. So it would behoove me to get in gear as much as I can between now and then. Also I know that cheese and nut deviations will not be kind to me without exercise.

Let me know how everyone is doing? What are you doing to stay motivated? What type of exercises are you doing? How did you do this week?

Hey everyone,

Just want to congratulate you all on the hard work with losing weight. I lost 40lbs 2 years ago and then started running...I just ran a half marathon (13 miles) 3 weeks ago.... You can do anything you put your mind to with a little hard work.

I just recently gained 10lbs because I started travelling for work but I just started the gym again to get this off by April 15th (my next cruise) and then I am planning on losing another 30 lbs (and anything else I gained on the cruise:D )

It's great to see the support you get through this thread.

Keep up the good work!!!

Go Rosie--keep focusing on the goal. Be extra vigilant with your food recording. It is the unconscious eating that takes it toll at the scale. Things like "tasting" while cooking, mindless eating while -you fill in the blank, and food given to you by others that was not planned and/or recorded.

Little Dipper you are correct. Once I set my mind to it, write it down and commit to others, I am more likely to hit my goal. Left to my own devices...what can I say?

Have good day everyone

Hi everyone- I just seem to be stuck this week. I'm reasonably sure it's due to double digit multiplication.:D It seems DS has COMPLETELY forgotten how to do it in the past 2 weeks. Heck, he seems to have forgotten his multiplication facts all together. He starts homework at 8:30am and on Monday and Tuesday it was 7pm when he got it done. He hasn't actually forgotten how to do them because yesterday when he had to do a math sheet before we could leave to go to homeschool group he did it correctly in no time flat. He has just decided to fight me on it this week. He thinks that by acting helpless his dad or I will sit down and do it for him. However, I keep telling him that I passed 3rd grade in 1976. It's a power struggle, I'll win eventually but it's not left me any time for exercising this week. AND it's made me crave sweets and stress eat. I haven't gained back any more but I sure haven't lost any either.

On the good side, DH and I have started seriously planning our next big vacation. We're looking at a couple of all-inclusive resorts. One is a Beaches resort in Ochos Rios, Jamaica and the other is a Melia in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Normally all inclusives totally go against my nature because you don't get out and meet the locals and see the sights but with an 11 month old (by then) I'm guessing our adventure travelling is going to have to wait a bit. So this year we'll stick with something that has daycare and some serious pampering. I'm going to work really hard because I'd love to be at least 40 or 50 pounds lighter by then. HEck, I'd be done if I could get 60 pounds off.

Hi everybody,

Tami, stay strong with the DS and his homework. I have been a nanny for 20 years and I know what your going through, unfortunately for my charges I can be very stubborn. My now 20 year old "charge" and I spent more than 1 summer day staring each other down across the dining room table. Of course I eventually won, but not before wanting to jump across the table and shake some sense into him. Kids are great and a joy, most of the time, but they do have their "hours"!!!

Natalie, happy late birthday! I wonder how many calories a big surprise burns...

I've been doing okay. Doctors are still running tests to see if the cancer has spread anymore. Had a PET scan Monday and results weren't bad, but showed that a few areas need more testing (liver and pelvic areas). Nothing "lit up" brightly so I am hoping for the best. I meet with an oncologist/hematologist Monday to start talking about treatment options. In a way I am looking forward to moving forward, but at the same time I am dreading what those options may be.

I have switched from low-carb to an anti-oxident rich low-calorie diet. I am not losing weight nearly as fast as with low-carb, but I am feeling good. I lost 2 pounds this week, so I'm still losing. It also sounds like I may be hypothyroid and will probably be going on meds for that soon. The docotr said they won't make me lose weight, but will make it easier. Does anyone have any experience?

Julie- My sister had thyroid problems and had to go on meds. Your doctor is right. Her meds didn't make her miraculously drop weight but when she decided to start eating better weight came off at a normal, expected pace. She'd always given up before because she didn't lose weight no matter what she tried.

DS has gotten a bit better about the math this week. Tomorrow is another sheet of double digit multiplication though so we'll see if he forgot everything he knows. I have a friend who went to a homeschool convention 2 weeks ago and she came home with a ton of math games. I'm going to get copies of her packet and try some with him. Maybe playing games will motivate him. At least it will be a break from pencil and paper. He's been told that I have a certain area of his book (it's a 2 year curriculum) that he must be done with in order to finish 3rd grade. If we're still doing math in July because he refuses to learn his multiplication work then it's "so sorry" for him. I have a computer and I can run off all the drills in the world for practice. :D It was funny because when I showed him that I could just click a button and generate hundreds of new worksheets he actually realized that he COULD do that multiplication! He did the last assignment last week in less than 30 minutes and only made 3 mistakes because he wrote so sloppy that he couldn't read his own writing.

My weight is still stuck at 201 but it's PMS week which can make me hold onto as much as 5 pounds of water weight. So I'm trying really hard this week and hoping it all drops off in a couple of days.

Good morning all,

Julie- the surprize burned lots of calories. The eating did not. LOL Thank you.

Be encouraged in everything. You are on top of it. That is a very good thing. Your improved eating and emphasis on good health will take you where you want to be. BIG BIG HUG

Tami-That is so funny about the revelation your DS had when you clicked on the computer. That made me laugh

I bought the "EASY" button from Staples for $5.00 (all proceeds go to The Boys and Girls Club of America). It is so much fun. When you press it it says "That was easy"! I need easy in my life.

This morning I was just checking on my process and found a 1 pound gain. :( I decided I had not been drinking enough water. Two things happen when I do not drink the water. The first thing is I am more hungry, the second thing is I do not lose as consistently. With that said I am committing to drinking at least 8 glasses today. I usually do 12, but I need to be a little gentle with myself today.

Did I mention that I am having my breast reduced April 28.I am both very excited and nervous. The first thing my PS (plastic surgeon) and other folks who have had this told me is: Do not be sad that you still will not be able to see you feet. The reason is the tummy takes on a new perspective! So thinking ahead I have purchased tummy trimmer under garments. I also believe that will encourage me to keep up the good work I am doing here with you all.

I will let you know the official weight in the morning.

Have a great day

Hi all, well, I'm still up over 200 again but only by half a pound so it's getting better. I should drop that when I quit retaining all this water.

Natalie- I'm SO jealous on the breast reduction! I want one but will have to wait until after my kids constantly need picked up. I think it will help my neck and shoulder issue immensely. My SIL had one done last spring and said it was the most amazing thing. Yes, there was some surgical pain, but within a few weeks all the pain including her chronic back and neck pain was gone. She feels better than she has in years. She and my BIL even took pictures because she was tired of taking people into the other room to show the surgical scars to people who were interested in the same surgery. :D She was the first of so many of her girlfriends to have it done that she should have gotten a commission from her doctor!

Hi everyone,

The official Thursday morning weigh in=241.5 down 1/2 pound. Not exactly (lol) the 2 I had planned on. I suspect you have to really follow the plan and commitments to self and others to reach the goals. ROTFLOL

With that said I know what to do. I have a routine that puts me in the right frame of mind. And it works. So being the good "addict" person since it works I stop doing it! Some of you can relate.

Tami-what a great idea to just take the photo and carry them around. I have seen lots and lots of boobs lately. Folks are so ecstatic that they show you so you will be encouraged. How awesome is that! Yes, waiting until your baby do not "require" picking up is a good idea. It will be sooner than you think.

I am hopeful that all of us are having a great time on this journey to health. I am for the first time. I truly believe it is because I am being honest with myself and others. The truth will set you free is what I have heard. I also know that whatever does not kill me will make me stronger.

Have a wonderful day.

PS My goal for next Thurday is 1.5 pounds.

Tami- I just want to get under the 240 mark. I was so happy to be under 250.

HUGS

Hi everyone! Well, I have another busy week of evenings and afternoons this week so I spent alot of time cooking yesterday. I threw an 8 1/2 pound pork tenderloin in the crockpot and let it go all day. I pulled it as it was coming out of the pot and have some low carb BBQ sauce for it. Today I'm going to make some cole slaw that uses vinegar, splenda, mustard and water. It will keep all week if it lasts that long. I also browned 5 pounds of ground chuck for sloppy joes, taco salads, etc. Today I'm going to grill off a bunch of chicken to have for salads. I also boiled a dozen eggs to make eggs vindaloo (indian mix of egg whites, tomatoes, curry paste and onion) for breakfast. I have to buy more salad stuff at some point later this week but that should give us enough meat to get through to the weekend without having to cook again, except the night I've planned to have fish, which is a 10 minute thing.

I also managed to get on the exercise bike for 30 minutes yesterday. Today I'm going to see if I can start a trend and either do the bike again or do a pilates video.

Well I managed to squeeze in bike time yesterday and I'm going to try to do at least 15 minutes again today. We have the social worker coming this afternoon for our last post placement visit for Baby-man. I'll be glad to have it done. I also have to go to the nursing home and make arrangements to get all grandma's paperwork ready to go to the neurologist's tomorrow. I dunno. Tomorrow moving her around may have to count as the workout. She's heavy and so is her chair. I will try to get some bike time in before I go or maybe some yoga afterward to stretch out my shoulder. I've actually not had to go to the chiropractor in 2 weeks. I'd like to keep it that way.

How did everyone's weekend go?

Hi Tami & Everyone else.....

I only lost a pound this week which is making me crazy because it seems like the weeks are going by way too quick for me to lose this weight. I have 13 more to go in 6 1/2 weeks  Trust me i have a lot more to lose but it would make me happy just to make it to my little mini goal of 35 pounds.

I've been feeling depressed. It comes and goes. It doesn't take to much for the water works to start coming. LOL :) I know snap out of it. I wish it were that simple. BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!! Sorry about bringing my problems here :(

I hope everyone here is doing good. Good luck this week at your weigh-ins.

Pugs.... You are in my prayers everyday :D I hope you are doing ok.

Gonna get going here. Maybe i'll check back in later.......

Hi Gang,

I am glad to see our family really working this out!

Junior Cruiser--Be gentle to you--you are doing wonderful And you can bring anything here that is part of you! That includes the blues. If we all just posted good stuff it would not be helpful. I have so many things going on to make me sad. My brother is sick. It started as a staph infection that had him hospitalized for 3 weeks and in a rehab center for 1 week. Now he has about 8 or 9 doctors. They are thinking Hodgkin's . So…

Tami-Please be extra careful with grandma.

I have to start work right now.

Will check in later.

Big HUGS

Hi all- Well, yesterday was frustrating! Our homestudy didn't happen because the social worker wrote down the wrong date. So now she is coming today at 6:30! SO, after I take Grandma to the doctor, which is very tiring, and DH has to get up early to get DD to gymnastics, I have to come home throw dinner on the table, get it cleaned up and be ready to go by 6:30. At least I did all my cooking on Saturday so it's just reheating. Otherwise it would be burgers and fries. I just had this gut feeling that she wasn't going to show and I forgot to call her on Friday to confirm.

My weight is back down to an even 200 and I did some simple strength training exercises yesterday while watching TV. I used Baby-man as my weight for my upper body to do presses and curls.:D He weighs about 13 pounds now and will keep me progressing until he's too big to do the movement.

Debbie- This place is for support in good times and bad. People who are only perpetually cheerful make me wonder what kind of medication they are on! It isn't normal to not have ups and downs.

Natalie- Hang in there. Hodgkins is scary but they've made huge progress with it in the past 25 years since my uncle had it. It generally has a pretty high survival rate. Still no one wants to hear a diagnosis of cancer in their family.

Ok, ya'll. Let's have a good rest of the week. Try to do something good for ourselves every day even if it's just taking an extra 5 minute walk or 2 minutes to breathe away some stress. As for me, once I get today's stress over I've already told my family that MOM is getting back into the exercise habit for 30 minutes a day. They will be able to hold it together and deal with eachother with out tattling, fighting, driving me insane or setting the house on fire while I do so if they want mom to be less cranky at the end of the day.

I am now below the 100lbs to loose mark. With 10 months left until we are on the Carnival Conquest I know I can do this. It's only 2.1lbs per week. I really enjoy reading the posts here and am glad you all are sharing your experiences.

Hi all,

It is funny that we have those gut feelings that are the truth! Tami so sorry to hear about the extra unexpected stress. Yes, get grandma back on an exercise plan. That is funny that you are using Baby-man as your exercise weight. :)

Debbi-Thank you for being real. Like Tami said too much happy makes me wonder where can I get those drugs too. LOL

My weigh in today made me an even 240 Yeah! I lost 1.5 pounds. So now I will work on the next 10 pound increment. Did I mention that I am also measuring myself the first of each month? It helps give me a concrete picture of my appearance.

I am taking a short break from homework. If you look up the word procrastinator my picture is there. I am not at that really miserable stage yet...I am finishing one project. I have an informal report and some editing to do to my business writing project. I also have a paper to write for my social problems class. These are due this Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning respectively. I have done better each semester and yet...

Well, the timer went off about 2 minutes ago. So I must go.

Remember : one meal-at-a-time, one-day-at-a-time, one-pound-at-a-time.

Much love,

Natalie
