Is the Aft Balcony on the Breakaway that great?

We had an aft balcony on Getaway on deck 12. The balcony was huge, it fit 2 lounge chairs, side table, 2 regular chairs, and still had plenty of space. Besides, it was partially shaded which made it really comfortable on the hot days. And the view from the balcony was amazing :)

You may want to do a search and check out photos of a specific room # to see what the balcony looks like, and if it's worth it for you.

Good luck !

Yes yes yes oh and yes. Especially on deck nine the balcony is big enough to hold a rodeo . If you are balcony people theres no doubt you should do aft. And I'm not kidding those things are huge.I had one last cruise and am doing it again next month. Once you go aft there's no looking back .

Also at night they shine tiny little colored lights into the wake just behind the ship and it looks like shiny fish dancing about in water. And you can see fire works on your own balcony.

Yes, it is really great - we had AFT on Breakaway - deck 11 - and it is huge - and we paid the extra $250. We had 2 lounges, 2 chairs and a table and still could walk around. We booked the same cabin on Getaway for Sept. Can't wait!

I will throw a spanner in the works here -

I dont know about any one particular ship - but I know I was tempted, through the comments on CC - to take an AFT balcony

I will never ever do so again

Aside from being miles away from the heart of the ship- I found when in port - we were staring out to the same horizon view - day in day out -

I like to watch from port side - the docking , the people, the locals..

I dont know why but on CC- AFT seems to be so very desireable..

Not for me

I would take the angled balcony ..

Sorry - Just offering another opinion.

Never again aft for me..;)

Totally agree with you on this one.

We had an angled balcony and it was nice and close to the aft stairs and elevators.

If the sun is facing the balconies all day while docked in BDA, they get HOT. Too hot to sit out. We never saw anyone on their afts ever while docked. They looked like easy bake ovens.

Next year we plan on angled again.

We had an aft balcony on Breakaway (11910) for the Bahamas itinerary. I enjoyed having it - the space on the balcony was great. It was quiet. I LOVED the little lights they shined into the wake. It was a great view. Could see the fireworks.

Loved it and would easily pay $250 for it.

We had aft 11310 and LOVED it! But as previously mentioned, it was HOT during the day if you wanted to sit out there. I believe that on deck 12 (maybe 9 too) there is a bit of an overhang from the decks above and you may have some shade. These seem to be the deepest of all the afts; not all the aft balconies are exactly the same size from deck to deck.

And this isn't the first time I've heard about these "fish" in the wake at night... never saw them, and we were looking too.

Also.. I found the location just perfect for being near it all - other than the 678 area, everything we needed was a few floors below or above us. We never went to the pool deck - H2o was perfect for our needs. The only time we ventured forward of the casino/lounge areas was when we went to Rock of Ages.

We were just in 12906. Very deep balcony with about half covered. Agree that it's a great location, close to many venues. Only complaint was how hot it got during the day and we had substantial soot on Sat. morning after leaving Bermuda. We never saw fish either.

Is there any benefit one over the other of the aft cabins in the dead middle vs the ones closest to the aft haven suites located on the corners?

The 3rd in from starboard side are mostly handicap cabins, while you may be able to book it you also run the risk of being asked to move if they need it.

Decks 9/10/12 have the biggest balconies. Other than this there is really no benefits that i can think of as to one over the other and we only do aft balconies and have been in the middle and ends.

Now for the Breakaway and fireworks you may want to book port side aft for the fireworks.

Thanks for the information, very helpful. One point of clarification you stared decks 9/10 and 12 have the largest balconys. Logic would say 9/10 and 11. Was that a typo or is there something strange that would make 11 smaller than 10 an 12?

.....the Balcony Spreadsheet of course!

;)
