Are Dawn and Pearl very similar?

I have been on both and like them both. My take is:

They are not same class.

Pearl is about 10% bigger.

Pearl has the large viewing lounge/bar on deck 12 forward, whereas this was removed on the Dawn for additional cabins, mainly suites. The lounge on the dawn is now aft on deck 7 and has no windows.

Pearl has the Haven, Dawn does not.

Pearl has bowling and rock climbing, Dawn does not.

Other public areas are fairly similar.

One other difference is that the Pearl has "the great outdoors", which the Dawn doesn't.

The Dawns' buffet is on both the starboard, and port sides, where on the Pearl it is on the starboard side only, with the overflow being La Cucina, the the great outdoors.

Other than that, they are vary similar.

We've been on the Dawn twice, most recently April of this year, and the Pearl once in 2011. One thing we noticed was the Pearl's buffet was a lot nicer and bigger with more selections, and the dining area was more upscale with upholstered seating, etc. Probably the difference with a newer ship. The food quality was about the same.

A newbie question: are Dawn and Pearl the same class or almost the same? The deck plans look similar. What are the major differences?

Thanks!

in addition, major difference is in the location of the spa areas. Pearl is forward, deck 12 with a larger thermal suite. Dawn has a much nicer atrium with glass elevators.
