My travel agent let me know that Princess was offering to move us from our balcony guarantee to a penthouse suite for $199 per person for our upcoming 3-day Caribbean Princess cruise. I'm going to pass, but it is tempting. I'd jump on it for that price on a longer cruise.

To me, the extra benefits aren't worth it. We'll already have a minibar setup as Elite. I'm sure breakfast at Sabatini's is good, but I doubt it's worth an extra $100 per day. (My understanding is that it's not offered on the last morning.) We have always found balcony cabins to have sufficient room. The larger bathroom, though, would be nice.

We're taking this cruise with the 4-day one that follows. I'd be more tempted to buy the upgrade on our second leg. That way we'd be moving up instead of moving down.

For three days (which is more like 2 1/2 days) it would not be worth it to me either

I would pass also. If enough people pass, you might get a free upgrade. On my last cruise, we got an upgrade from an inside aft cabin, to a much larger obstructed view cabin, free of charge. Love the free stuff!
