doconner Posted December 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2014 It's now Monday, and my friends and I are taking a cruise on Saturday out of Florida. One of my friends will be flying from California on Friday night and arriving in Florida on Saturday morning the same day as embarkation. He just realised that he hasn't purchased travel insurance yet, and is wondering if it's too late. He is concerned about missing embarkation and needing to catch up to the ship at a later port, and would mainly be buying travel insurance for that purpose. Is it too late for him to buy travel insurance for the cruise, now that it's just 5 days out from the start of his trip? Thanks,
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2014 Based on your post it looks like your friend is from the USA. Is that correct? If he is he could purchase insurance and a good source is http://www.insuremytrip.com But he needs to be sure that he understands what would be covered and if there are situations that it would not cover missing the ship. aquilegia Posted December 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2014 He will need to discuss with the insurance company whether he is covered for any additional travel expenses that he might occur catching up with a cruise that he had already booked before taking out the insurance. klfrodo Posted December 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2014 Can still buy insurance but most likely would not cover what he is most concerned about.
shynorthgirl65 Posted December 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 8, 2014 we were booked on trip and our passports were stolen when we got off the bus in New York City on Nov 9 2014, we went to board the cruise ship and they would not let us on. We returned home and sent a request to get a credit voucher from the cruise line explaining what happened. They would not give us any kind of credit and basically said we should have bought travel insurance. We are very upset with the cruise line it was Norwegian on the Break away, just make sure that your coverage you purchase has this option in it.
