What happens if/when you admit you're sick on the health form?

Do you sail quarantined? Do you not sail at all? If you don't sail, is here any reimbursement? I'm just thinking a lot of folks might fib to avoid losing their vacation...

Typically, answering that you're ill will require you to visit with ship's medical staff for a determination as to whether they will let you board.

If the medical staff decides you can board, there may be restrictions (quarantine possibly). If they decide you cannot board, there is no reimbursement from the cruiseline. The only money you might get back would be if you had purchased travel insurance that covered you being denied boarding.

And, yes, people do lie on the health form. That's a major reason that there are problems onboard ships with communicable diseases (norovirus, flu, "simple" colds" mostly).

Read the contract, buy insurance if your are worried.

If you lie and come down sick the next day they can either put you off the ship at the next port or quarantine you to your room for the rest of the cruise..

They are not going to send you to you to their doctor on the ship for evaluation.. you presence in that action could spread whatever cooties you might possess...

Airlines can do this too !!

I should have said that the medical staff (usually one of the nurses) would come off the ship to see the supposedly ill person to make their determination. They will not let them board the ship to go to the medical facility.

Had it happen on our alaska cruise a few years ago, my GF had a slight headache, arriving at 12 and filled out 'yes', after directed to a seperate sitting area we waited and waited and waited, until close to 330, no medical staff came off the ship. Someone came to us and took our documents and verified iur boarding pass, and retrieved our cruise cards. We were escorted to our cabin, and told to wait there until medical staff to show up and evaluate the situation, no one showed up, all we got was a call from medical and asked a few questions. They made a decision there and then without physical meeting.

This happened to me on a hal cruise. A few days before a cruise several years ago I woke up and when I tried to sit up I was incredibly dissy and nauseous. I ended up going to the doctor and they determined it was fluid on my ear. As a precaution they ran a battery of tests. They were all fine. I was honest on the form and was told to have a seat and a medical person would come see me. I waited a long time like the other poster, but they decided I was ok to sail. I did have insurance.
