What would be a GREAT deal for 4 day Sky?

Eying up a 4 day Sky cruise for the fall (October 2015) and currently they have Oceanview rooms for $229 per person for that timeframe. This would include pick a perk (OBC, Ultimate Dining, or Ultimate Beverage). Is that a good price, high, low, average?? I'd forgo all the perks for a substantially lower price but I think those firesale last minute deals are turning into memories now, and it is all about higher prices with included perks which is fine. Not sure which perk I'd even take...

That's a good deal. I think that's about what we paid last February without the deals. As for which one to take, I definitely would not go for the OBC as I think it's only about $50. The The UBP is around $55/person/day so that's a good deal if you want a few drinks each day and not have to worry about the cost. We bought that on the Sky and it was nice to be able to try different things. We're not much for the specialty restaurants as we are happy with the main dining rooms so we wouldn't take that. I'm not sure of the actual monetary value. I guess you have to decide which is the best value for you.

And by the way...if the price does come down after final payment, you may be able to upgrade to a balcony and keep your package. That's what we did last year. I saw that prices had come down about two weeks before we were leaving, so I called NCL (I always book directly through them). We were upgraded to a balcony at no extra charge because balconies were the same price as we paid for our OV.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I am sort of the mindset that they have to feed you anyways, so the retail value of the Ultimate Dining is not an actual value to me. And Sky has very limited amount of specialty choices anyway. I think MDR would be fine. I guess the drink package makes the most sense. That way regardless of how much we do drink it is not "out of pocket" and there's still plenty of places to eat.

Looking again I see it is among the cheapest weeks to book. But for short cruises I usually don't book ahead and wait for a fire sale. That said, I don't think OV's are suddenly going to be half the price, and they certainly won't have any pick a perks available. I've got a few days to decide what to do, appreciate the input.

I just booked the Sky in November for that price. I chose the UBP since it costs $220 per person on a 4 day cruise. You are already getting free food without the UDP, so that's why we choose the drink package. Plus, my spouse and I will spend $30-$60 a day on drinks for each of us. Comparing it to a RCCL 4 day cruise for the same time period, that would've cost $20 more and only have $100 OBC. I look at NCL as having a OBC of $440 due to the UBP for us.

Is it able to transfer/be sold?

nope - it's tragic, right?! I was living in Iowa at the time so I was like "Oh I have to fly anyhow" but then I moved to Dallas, and it was cheaper for me to the a 7day on the Jewel than it was to do the 4 day on the Sky

Airfare can get you! We are in Dallas and have driven to Galveston for a couple of cruises.

However, it's really not that much to fly to Ft Lauderdale on Southwest. They have direct flights there, we will be on one for a Sky cruise in May. Timed right, you are looking at $300 per person round trip.

true, but I got a 7 day jewel cruise with free ubp for 379pp! So I couldn't justify paying 300pp for flights and for a 4 day. Even though I had a coupon for a free 4 day sky on an AFT facing balcony *sigh*

Just booked. $229 a person for Oceanview. Beverage Packages included. $25 OBC from T/A.

My "go to" cruise line would have been $60 more for a comparable room the same week and no beverage package. This current NCL promo is great. Went from never having been on NCL to now having two booked.

Every year the family goes to SoFlo to visit my snowbird parents. DH and I usually escape for a few nights in SoBe. This year, I thought about a cruise. Imagine my shock to find out that its actually cheaper for us to do the Sky than it is for 2 nights in Miami.

We lucked out and got the UBP promo too. Now the guilt is setting in that we should take my parents and kids. LOL. It will pass though....

I just booked a "free" cruise on the sky. $100 noncom+$103 port charges. $406 total for 2. That is your goal. $229+$103 = $664 for two plus the udp is not bad.

What was the promo everyone got these "free" cruises from?

And thanks for breaking down the actual cost to set foot on a "free" cruise.

I got mine comped through Casinos at Sea. I know a lot of people got free Sky cruises when they booked the Breakaway or Getaway sometime last year. That "free" price, by the way, is specifically for the Sky 4 day. My Getaway cruise was more expensive.

We booked a last minute deal for the 4 day cruise (Jan 12-16, 2015) on the Sky 10 days before sailing and got an Oceanview for $139 pp before port charges and taxes. So sometimes it's all about timing. However, I think $229 is good since you also have a choice of OBC, UDP or UBP which we didn't have at the time.
