soccerdad72 Posted February 23, 2015 #151 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Following along -- we're on the Allure this summer, so I'm reading anything Oasis Class I can find these days. :D
Rare A&L_Ont Posted February 23, 2015 #152 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Nicksmom, thanks for the review. Your pictures are great and I enjoy your writing style. I do have 2 questions. Did your cabin have the Diamond Plus shower anemities (shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion etc) or did you have to ask for them? Did your Diamond+ luggages tags survive the trip from the drop off to your cabin and do you think they made any difference difference? Thanks, Andrew

Folk Singer Posted February 23, 2015 #154 Share Posted February 23, 2015 I'll look for some drink menus and report back. I only know the piña coda is now $12.00. I don't believe the pool bar menu had any prices! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Ok good to know.

beancounterbeth Posted February 23, 2015 #157 Share Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) I see a lot of people mentioning cabin crawls. On my first cruise years ago on Explorer of the Seas the ship had a Pub / Bar crawl. It was put on by the ship and we went from bar to bar and at each bar/pub there were drinks passed out (a set drink decided by the ship) and we all wore lays and sang songs from one bar to the next. It was soooo much fun. I can't say the next morning was all that much fun but that was so memorable. I don't ever hear anyone talk about those anymore. Does anyone know if they still do that these days or is it too much of a liability? Edited February 23, 2015 by beancounterbeth
Rare niksmom630 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #158 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Nicksmom, thanks for the review. Thanks, Andrew Thanks, Andrew, yes, we had the shower amenities. The luggage tags were also still affixed, but in 18 or so cruises, this was the latest our luggage has ever arrived, so in fact they made no difference. This was our first sailing as D+.....this what we experienced thus far: -Ordered RCI beach towel as an amenity, and bottled water. Got 4 bottles of water, no beach towel. - got an invitation to join one of three behind the scenes tours-galley, entertainment, or bridge. I signed up for the galley. - got this "fruit and cheese" plate.....good Lord! 😳most people could survive for a week on this. It seems so wasteful. The cheese plate from room service or a few strawberries would have been more than sufficient! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Rare niksmom630 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #159 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Chris, Thanks for the book recommendation. I downloaded it to my Kindle and it am already getting a lot out of it. I like how easy it is to understand. :) Bill, I'm really enjoying it also! Now to only get out of auto mode and employ some f this new found knowledge! 😊 Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Rare niksmom630 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #160 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Pool drink specials.... This is a shot of our D1 cabin balcony with the divider open. It actually seems larger from a pass through perspective than I recall from voyager or freedom class ships. I've seen quite a few posts asking about the lifeboats obstructing the view. This is looking straight down over the balcony.....they really don't stick out too far.... Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Rare niksmom630 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #161 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Have an awesome time at your meet and greet. And how fun to do a cabin crawl! I notice that there are people in pool at the Aqua Theatre pool. Are you allowed to swim there, or is there some special lesson going on (maybe scuba as it looks like they are wearing something)? There were people in scuba gear-- I assume a class, or some type of training exercise! No open swimming there that I am aware of.... Rare niksmom630 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #164 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Day 3 random thoughts, tips, and tidbits of info..... - carrying on beverages...I forgot to report this earlier. I packed two bottles on wine, two bottles of Pepsi (your either a Pepsi or a Coke fan--I'm a Pepsi girl all the way. Only Coke products on this ship😉), and three small bottles of Coffee Mate Hazelnut. Went through security, and my bag was never even opened. - those with the drink package are having to sign slips for drinks - have heard very few onboard announcements, with the exception of crew drills. They've been replaced with voicemails on the cabin phone. Got three messages already on port shopping talks! 😄 - this mornings breakfast was at the Wipe Out Cafe. they have the typical Windjammer breakfast buffet fare, and also a made order omelet and egg station. They hand you a number and you seat yourself--then they deliver your egg order directly to the table. - they are pumping some kind of air freshener into the casino. I'm a smoker, and I'm not sure which is worse-- the smoke smell or the air freshener. 😝 Casino Royale was fairly kind to me last night, so I'll be going back for more. - last night was our first experience with MTD, "My Time Dining" or as I have affectionately renamed it, "My Total Disaster". I'm going to have to dedicate an entire post to this debacle, but for now I'd like to focus on more uplifting news. - the Comedy Club show was great, lots of laughs, which were much needed following the dinner from h-e-double hockey sticks... - we had an AWESOME meet and greet and cabin crawl. I've never done a cabin crawl, but really wanted to see the grand suites, including on of the new acts, as well as the crown loft on this ship. My CC roll call members were kind enough to let me snap a few photos, which I'll be sharing shortly! 👍 Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Natmom Posted February 23, 2015 #165 Share Posted February 23, 2015 If possible , are you able to take a photo of the d1 balcony? We are in a d1 room in May and I've wondered how big the balconies really are

Rare niksmom630 Posted February 23, 2015 Author #167 Share Posted February 23, 2015 New aft Grand Suites...I really loved it! There is so much storage and the furnishings are so crisp and clean...I loved the grey and blue... Huge wrap around balcony...they were cleaning a bit when we got there...my only thought was they really need to upgrade the furniture along the lines of the other grand suite we saw! We were in one last year on Allure, so I'd seen one before, and it just would have prompted an episode of Jr. Suite envy!! Great meeting you today, hope our paths cross again this cruise!!!
