Hi Handy Andy

I will be on the same cruise.

As Bob said, the hairdryers are normally in the vanity drawer and are plugged in somewhere under the unit.

As the cruise is repositioning to Europe it is unlikely that there will be kettles in the room but room service is always available (small charge during the very early hours)

Don't forget the pirate drill!

The last couple of times we have done the Suez canal the ship has done a pirate drill.

There was a drill called 'operation safe haven' - move off the open deck, away from the windows, etc. and some men in black boarded the ship carrying big black cases ;)

We had 4 nights where we were not allowed outside after dark, balcony curtains had to be kept closed, no light showing, Viking lounge lights dimmed and virtually no lights on deck when sailing through the Gulf of Eden.

The casino did get extremely smoky as smokers were not allowed outside.

No need to be scared. IMHO just the cruise line being over cautious - the chances of a small pirate boat taking over a cruise ship are remote as there are just too many people.

It's a pain not being allowed out after dark.

We should also pass the Quantum going the other way on this cruise.

We had an oceanview cabin on the Rhapsody and there were no tea making utensils in the cabin. If you book a Junior Suite or higher, there is a coffee maker in the rooms. However my experience with coffee makers is that they make terrible tea that tastes like coffee! You can get hot tea outside the windjammer 24 hours a day. If you are a tea aficionado, you may want to bring along some of your own tea since Royal Caribbean's tea is not very good.

I've just booked on this ship for Singapore to Dubai and also have never been on RCI so was going to ask the same question. Thanks for the tip about the Tea.

Can anyone tell me what he plug sockets are ie: American or European, English?

There are both Euro and US sockets on the ship.
