First timer feeling overwhelmed.

I have been asking a lot of questions but it is just soooo much info I can't keep it all straight. I have a 12yr old son and he makes me the most nervous. We will be on the Carnival Triumph. I know they have a 12-14 club but someone mentioned the option for him to have dinner at/with the kid's club? I also worry that I will do some huge cruise no no...might be silly but that would be awful for me. I am hoping that cruise staff are use to first timers and if I am constantly asking questions...they will understand? I just want my boys and I to have a wonderful time but my anxiety gets the best of me...especially not knowing exactly what to expect.

Thank you,

Anxious first timer

The crew are great, and very much used to questions.

in spite of what you read here, there really are no "Cruise no nos."

I'd actually suggest you forget most of what you read here, make sure you read your newsletter when you board and every night so you know what times things are happening and other than that go with the flow.

You are worrying about nothing! This is a vacation...it's supposed to be relaxing!

Yes...there are some nights where the club will take the kids to eat...it will be in the daily newsletter! You can participate, or not. The best thing i to take your son to the "orientation", when all the kids are new to each other. Then, let him set his schedule...if he wants to do something, that's great! If he doesn't, don't force it!

There is no "must do" on vacation!

Please, calm down, and don't transmit your anxiety to your son! It's going to be a fun time...relax and go with the flow!

As said above, there are no "huge cruise no no's". Just relax and have a good time. If you are not sure whether something is okay to do, just ask on of the crew.

Once you are on board for about 2 minutes, you will relax and all the worries will disappear.

Thank you. Keeping my anxiety to myself...trying to get it out here..lol. Will the orientation be in the newsletter as well?

Thank you. It helps hearing that from people who have been there.

Unless things have changed since our last Carnival cruise (2002), the kids' dinners (probably one or two on your cruise depending on how many days), will be at the buffet room. If he wants to go (none of the kids' clubs activities are mandatory, each kid can be there at every session or can pick and choose), there will be a time for him to show up (parents can drop off younger kids). Afterward, the kids can go to the program rooms with the staff for the evening activities.

Make sure to go the first day to sign your kids up (and that's where they meet the other kids). If you didn't get a packet with the day-by-day schedule in your cabin, ask for one from the kids' staff.

I would recommend you go on the Carnival website and read the FAQs. Plenty of great info and should put your mind at ease. It'll be fun for your whole family.

yes there is... being late back to the ship at port! Ships do NOT wait for people (unless you are on an excursion booked through the cruise line and the excursion is running late)

no question is dumb !!!

it take a full day to get into the swing of things, and the ships are like a giant maze, with elveators leading to restuarnats, etc..sometimes having to walk through the casino or lounge o etc...to get where you wanna go...

I had my 11 yr old daughter, we had no issues, never used the club, she started making freinds the last 2 days on her own at the pool
