1st cruise in 2017. Going to Western Caribbean, not sure which islands yet. Do we need to know another language other than English for spending time in the ports?

No. But speaking to a local in their language, or at least making an attempt, will always get you points.

No most ports on a cruise ship speak english . The further in the port you go then no, the language will be different then english

 

 

US $ is accepted at most all ports.

Having said that; there is English and English spoken by Jamaicans. Some of the accents are a bit tricky to understand.
