14 night Carnival Pride An Ode to the "Old" Menus

Later in the afternoon my mom and I ordered room service (don't think we didn't feed my dad - he enjoyed a guy's burger and did a little foraging at the buffet - he just didn't take a camera with him).

My mom ordered the shrimp salad sandwich. I'm sad that this is off the new menu because she really enjoyed it. It was also served with sliced cucumbers and sliced tomatoes. She also ordered the veggie plate. Everything was sliced into realistic pieces (Giant pieces of celery where you feel like you're expected to gnaw on a tree branch are a pet peeve of mine).

I enjoyed my traditional tuna salad sandwich on an English muffin (even though the menu doesn't state it comes on an English muffin, it still does). I forgot to order potato salad as my side and ended up with some kind of stale potato chips. I also ordered some cookies. I ended up bagging them in a Ziploc and a couple of days they were soft. I think though, they do taste better crispy. They have lots of chocolate chips and are a good cookie (like Mr Christies - a good mass produce cookie).

Dinner tonight was good for everyone but me. For whatever reason, if there's going to be a problem, it's usually with my meal.

Appetizers tonight were a solid good. My mom had the spring rolls. Crispy and a good balance of vegetable stuffing and wrapper. I had the chicken quesadilla which was also very good. I've enjoyed it in the past and it lived up to my memory.

My dad enjoyed double shrimp cocktails again:

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20115.jpg

I had really struggled between the two soups. I like both French Onion and Black bean. I choose the black bean because I thought it would pair better with the quesadilla. I made the wrong choice. The soup wasn't very good, the texture was pasty and it was barely warm.

For entrees my mom went with the chicken Sicilian style. It was very tender and well seasoned. It was also a very large portion. She had been a little uncertain when ordering because really, what is Sicilian style? She ended up pleasantly stuffed as it came with both a breast and a leg (lots of both white meat and dark meat).

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20117.jpg

She also requested a side of vegetables and they brought some steamed broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and potatoes.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20118.jpg

I ordered the jerk pork loin. It looked great, the sauce was spicy and the dish was hot. The pork however was so dry, it took my 10 minutes to get through the first bite. I asked for the fried chicken instead because I just couldn't eat the pork.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20119.jpg

My dad ordered the short ribs and pronounced them Fantastic! He wasn't a big fan of the rice but the meat was outstanding.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20120.jpg

He also ordered the meatloaf (cause well, its meatloaf and he is a big fan of comfort food). It was okay, he ate it but I doubt he would order it again or recommend it as a "must try" dish.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20121.jpg

My replacement meal of fried chicken arrived and I could tell from the moment it was put in front of me that it wasn't going to be good. It was very overcooked - dark brown and when I broke into it, the meat was dry and stringy. The carrots were good and the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20122.jpg

I'm harsher than baseball I guess because it was only 2 strikes before I gave up and struck out dinner.

This was St Patricks Day and we were offered a special "green cheesecake".

I thought it couldn't get any worse so why not.

I was so wrong

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20123.jpg

1. It wasn't cheesecake.

2. It was really green.

3. the thin layer of cake on the bottom looked like mold (it wasn't but it looked like it).

4. It was warm.

We found out later it was not cheesecake but CREAM cake. Okay, fine. It was still bad CREAM cake. No cake with the word cream in it should ever be served warm. Despite what one man who sat near us at lunch the next day said. Dairy = cold/cool, not warm.

Now, I'm not stupid. I didn't exactly trust the "special" dessert so I also ordered the cheesecake. That was good. Served cold (go figure!) with the strawberry sauce on the side. Nice cheese flavour.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20124.jpg

My dad ordered his banana split and the diet lemon cake (my mom ordered that as well because she is a big fan of citrus).

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20125.jpg

It was deemed very good and something that would be ordered again.

And just for a bonus, non food picture - here is the towel animal we received in both cabins that night.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20126.jpg

We had a lot of mystery animals this trip - I think its a pig because of the snout but my parents think its a dog.

I'm not a breakfast person. When my parents called at 8am and asked if I wanted to go to breakfast or go back to sleep, it was an easy choice. The idea of eggs (or anything else) was enough to make my stomach curl.

My parents enjoy the dining room more than the buffet so that's where they headed. My dad commented that this was the first cruise where he really enjoyed breakfast. We've had a lot of not very good eggs, and cold pancakes and weak OJ on our other cruises. This time, breakfast was consistently served hot, eggs cooked as he liked them, and the bacon didn't have the bacon cooked out of it.

My mom loves eggs benedict so it's no surprise that's what she went for. She actually enjoyed that the tops were browned, she said it kind of made the sauce part chewy. The ham was also tender and easy to cut through. The egg yolks were still runny, just like she likes them.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20132.jpg

My Dad got a ham and cheese omelet, hashbrowns and lots and lots of bacon.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20133.jpg

He was a happy camper.

They also had really great service this morning and took a picture of the server because he was so nice to them, they wanted to remember his name.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20135.jpg

And a picture of my mom enjoying her breakfast in a relatively empty dining room. I guess I'm not the only one on the ship who's not a breakfast person.

This. Was. DISGUSTING.

By far the worst food item I've ever been served on a cruise, and among the worst I've ever experienced period. We actually made a table game out of trying to come up with the best word to describe it... we settled on "vile". WOW it was bad!

Yes it was. I found it funny that another passenger at lunch the next day kept trying to make excuses and tell us it was supposed to be like that and that it was good. I will not order any "special" desserts again.

Eventually I met up with my parents and we ended up in the casino for a bit. Around noon I was pretty hungry so we decided to head to the MDR for lunch. The MDR is my parents preference on most ships so we did try to hit it up as often as it was open. For me, I'm flexible - I'm okay with the dining room but I'm equally okay with the casual dining on deck.

This was the same lunch menu that I'd experienced on the Miracle back in 2012 so I had a bit of an idea of what I'd like (and what my mom would like).

For starters she went with the Caribbean Pepper Pot soup. Not something she would normally try because she assumed it would be spicy. I assured her that it was not spicy - just a nice vegetable soup.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20142.jpg

She enjoyed this very much. My mother is usually cold so she's always happy for a chance to enjoy something that will warm her from the inside out.

I started with the sushi. My mother is allergic to crab and calamari so I don't have it at home (too great of a chance at cross contamination) and truthfully, there's a number of restaurants that I just don't trust when it comes to potential contamination so I rarely order it. I'm fairly confident on the ship though so I was happy to enjoy my sushi which included crab meat.

Was it the best sushi ever? No. Was it better than most supermarket or fast food style sushi places? Absolutely. I enjoyed it and do recommend it to anyone who likes sushi. If I'd have been thinking, I probably should have just ordered 2 of these for lunch and I would have been a happy camper.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20143.jpg

My dad skipped the appetizer and ordered two entrees. First up was the spaghetti and meatballs. This is where he learned a very valuable lesson - No Dentures = No Spaghetti. He just could seem to chew the noodles sufficiently without his dentures properly in place. He did enjoy the meatballs which is probably his favourite part of spaghetti and meatballs.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20145.jpg

His "safe" choice was the burger (just in case the spaghetti wasn't good). The burger was good - lots of cheese and bacon; crispy fries (different from the Guy's fries). He enjoyed the burger without the bun (cause really, why fill up on bread?). The MDR burger is a solid choice if nothing else looks appealing.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20146.jpg

For my entrée I had the shrimp and crabmeat on a Baguette. It was okay. The bread was fresh and there was lots of shrimp and crab; the crab was finely shredded and probably from a can. It was okay - nothing bad, just not special enough to order again.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20147.jpg

My mom went with the fish (sorry I don't know what kind it was). She enjoyed it; the sauce was nice and it was cooked right. She really enjoyed the green beans served with it.

Lunch dessert was by far one of my dad's favourites - chocolate cake! (or chocolate gateau as they called it). He said this was rich and fudgy. He loved that it was actual cake and not just some cream concoction.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20149.jpg

My mom went with the lemon and strawberry mousse. I had this in the past and thought she would enjoy it. I was right. It is light and fluffy; most of it is strawberry - there's just a little swirl of lemon on top in case anyone is not a fan of lemon.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20150.jpg

Her personal choice had been the crème caramel. This wasn't so good. It was kind of bland and too soft in texture. This very much reminds me of the scene in a Friends episode where Monica makes a Flan for Rachel's birthday and Joey remarks sarcastically, "Yeah, happy birthday Rachel, have some goo!"

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20151.jpg

She ended up happy that I made her order the mousse :p

My dad also ordered the ice cream sundae thingy which was chocolate and cherries. It was okay - mostly he liked the whipped cream. I think he had been so content with his cake that he was pretty full.

Tonight we wanted to see Guardians of the Galaxy so we decided on the Buffet for dinner.

Little Rant: Movies were mostly scheduled at 7 or 7:30 and 9 or 9:30. Late dinner starts at 8:15 - there's no way to catch a whole move AND have late dining most days. (for our 21 days in January, we've switched to anytime dining specifically for this issue - we'll probably still have the buffet a few times but at least it gives us the option to enjoy the MDR).

First I got my mom's plate. She really wanted some vegetables and there was limited variety of cooked on the buffet so she asked for veggies and dip from the salad bar area. From the bottom left of the photo clockwise, is a porkchop from the buffet (good), a variety of cheese (good), and then a selection of raw veggies (good) , pit less black olives and some beets (okay but not as good as having fresh cooked).

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20154.jpg

For myself I went with a few cold salads - potato salad, couscous salad, Caesar salad with bacon bits and olives (yes, I'm a little odd), some cheese and some Duck A L'Orange. It's the first time I've had duck. The next day I wasn't feeling well, had a scratchy throat and was puffy. My guess is either duck or something they cook the duck in/with is a sensitivity to me (not a full blown allergy, something more minor but an irritant none the less). Still, I enjoyed dinner at the time.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20155.jpg

My dad, being the meat eater that he is had a very different plate than my mom and I. He had prime rib (with gravy), a pork chop, some peas and a piece or two of potato.

My dad went up later and got us a plate of desserts to share (sorry, no pictures). I generally found that there was at least one good dessert each day/night - the trick is to find it. :D Tonight was a layer cake with whipped cream.

I am loving your review!

I do have to say that I am looking forward to the new menu on Carnival some day, your review is bringing back to me many things that I loved on the old, and some that I will miss.

Excellent photos.....making me hungry:)

The next morning was a late morning for us. It was a port day (but we didn't get off) so no MDR. That was okay with me because the theme of the buffet today was Mediterranean and I love Greek food.

For my mom's plate, I got here a chicken souvlaki pita, some tomato and feta salad, some vegetable salad and some raw veggies. The chicken was amazing! So tender and nicely seasoned. The pita was held together with a slice of red onion (which was soft and slightly cooked) I thought this was a great idea of how to hold it together in the pan to prevent people from just picking out the meat and leaving the rest behind.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20163.jpg

My plate is a little fuzzy (sorry) but it gives a better idea of the inside of the pita. I also had some potato salad (I am awkwardly addicted to it) and some of the tomato and feta salad. I also had a falafel. It wasn't good. It was like pebbles and paste mixed together.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20164.jpg

My dad went to meat eater heaven and got a Rueben, a hot dog and a piece of pork

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20165.jpg

I was still a bit hungry so I decided to try my luck with chopsticks. I was very glad I did. There was some shrimp wontons, vegetable Manchurian (the dark fried things on the lower right side), a veal dish, a chicken dish, noodles and rice (at least what I remember / got). It was all very good to excellent. The vegetable Manchurian was spicy and crispy. I really enjoyed them because they are different than the normal Chinese dishes I get. I also appreciated that have chopsticks because as my dad points out, I like to show off.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20166.jpg

My mom also had some creamy vegetable soup. She said it was too bland even for her (which says a lot). However, she still ate it all so at a basic level, she did enjoy it.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20167.jpg

My dad went and got a plate of desserts for him and my mom. The sundae cake (what they called the chocolate and white cake) was excellent. Jello is jello and the other stuff was unmemorable. My dad however, is still talking about that cake.

Dinner tonight was back in the MDR and the traditional 8th day menu. It was a good menu with some unique selections.

For my appetizer I chose the Bouillabaisse soup. I put my spoon in the soup to show how much seafood was in it. It was very nice tasting and the seafood was tender and nicely cooked.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20173.jpg

My mom ordered the pot stickers. There were very nice. The sauce was flavourful without being spicy. I cut them in half to make them easier to eat and they were loaded with ground pork ( no veggies inside, just meat).

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20174.jpg

She also had the pumpkin and chicken broth soup. This was nice as well. A smooth hot soup (and different than what we generally have at home).

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20175.jpg

I also had the beef kabob with pita crisps and the greek farmer salad. The beef was okay but I do enjoy the salad.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20176.jpg

My dad had his traditional 2 shrimp cocktails.

For entrees, my dad and I both had the grilled new York strip steak. This was very good. My was perfectly medium rare. Yes, there was some fat and gristle along the side but I expect that of most strip steaks.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20178.jpg

My mom had the salmon tonight (sorry, no picture) because she just wasn't interested in most of the entrees. The one was a mixed seafood dish (she's allergic to calamari), there was a Cornish game hen (doesn't like), and catfish (doesn't like) and finally the pasta had artichoke hearts and basil (neither does she like).

Dessert was a bit of a mixed bag. Nothing came like we were expecting.

I had ordered a citrus and berry cake:

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20179.jpg

It was okay but the fruit flavours were very light and it was mostly gelatinous.

My mom tried the pecan pie (which wasn't really pie at all) and the chocolate hazelnut tart (which wasn't really a tart at all). The pie wasn't good but the chocolate hazelnut cake was.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20180.jpg

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20181.jpg

My dad went with his standby of the banana split. Tonight's was made perfectly and arrived at just the right consistently (not melted, not hard).

This morning we were all getting off the ship so I was up for breakfast. It's usually a bit of work to push my mom around port so I make sure I've eaten and have the energy to do so. My dad used to be the primary pusher but in the last year or so, I've taken over. He says he's fine to do it but always seems to have so many problems that it's just easier for me.

My dad started off with the baked apple. I was truly surprised that he ordered this because it was very unlike him. It arrived cold (like cold, cold, not cool). If it had been served warm I think he would have enjoyed it but being served cold, it was just a crunchy, sticky mess.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20183.jpg

I'm not really an egg person (I hate when they come out wet - as far as I'm concerned, burn the darn things - I'd rather have brown crusty eggs than even a bit of gooeyness). I went for French toast, bacon and just for kicks, corned beef hash. All around, very good.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20184.jpg

My mom ordered waffles with strawberries, blueberries and bananas. She thought it was come with actual fruit but instead it was served with sort of fruit compotes for the strawberries and blueberries and a whole served of sweetened, stewed bananas. If you like sweet in the morning, order the banana. My mom ended up eating some of the fruit compotes on the waffles (she doesn't like syrup) but only a bite of the bananas.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20185.jpg

My dad had another ham and cheese omelet, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns. All good. He remarked that this was the first ship where we've had consistently good breakfasts.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20186.jpg

He also appreciated the Orange juice (tasted good) and he was okay with the coffee (he drinks his coffee with double cream). I couldn't stand the coffee but I take just a touch of milk so I put some of it down to the way I take my coffee. There really wasn't anything to counter balance the strongness or bitterness.

A brief, non dining interlude on our adventures in Panama.

The first adventure was getting off the ship. We had two wheelchairs for my mom - first is her normal transport chair that measures 26 inches across. The second was a rental, full sized chair specifically to make pushing around the ports easier and more comfortable for her (transport chairs and cobblestones are a bumpy mix). Due to the short length of the pier at Panama, only the forward ship ramp was in use. This ramp is exactly 26 inches wide. We found that out the hard way. We brought my mom down in the rental chair and it wouldn't fit (not even close). My dad went up and all the way aft, got my mom's transport chair and brought it down. We transferred my mom into it and security held the rental chair for us. It was an adventure getting my mom's chair down because it had to be absolutely exact and of course the front wheels kept trying to turn and even the slightest would get her stuck.

After that little adventure, I decided that we had to do more than just explore the immediate port area. I was going to try to find us a tour.

When you get off, there is a big parking lot where I guess the ship tours meet. It was empty by the time we got off.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20192.jpg

Even though I didn't see any taxi's I was still hopeful because I mean - there had to be private tours available somewhere, right?

So we went through the port building (cheap t shirts - $5 for kids, $10 for adults) and there were all kinds of handicrafts and they had locals in loincloths and headdresses and then you come out of that building into the port area. There is a ramp down, a ramp up, another ramp up and then another ramp down. The moment we stepped out, a guy came up and took my mother's chair and navigated her up and down the ramps (thank goodness - I was ready to turn back because the pavement on these was broken up and it was a tough push). Earned him a $5 tip that I was happy to give.

And then we ran into her. She of the private tours. Without any prompting, she came up, shook our hands, asked our names and tried to sell a tour. My parents were both saying no and I asked, "how much?" $20 a person for the 3 of us. "Do you have a car? my mother can't get into a truck or bus, it has to be a small car." No problem! So across the parking lot we went.

Of course, we arrive at a mini bus.

Yeah, that's not going to work for us. Her of the tours looked perplexed. My dad finally got across to her that we needed a SMALL CAR. No bus.

She told us she'd find us one. She was sent by Jesus to help us get a tour of Panama.

While I have my doubts about who sent her, I will say she came through. Over through the end gate came a small car - a Yaris. Maybe a little too small.

We made it work though - got my mom in the front seat, her wheelchair in the hatchback (it just fit and only because it was the transport chair and the back folds down) and my dad and I in the back.

Thank you lady for being true to your word - even when it meant finding us a tour with someone who wasn't in your company.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20195.jpg

And we had one of the best tours. We were just going to go around Colon so we could say, "yes, we've been to Panama" but he offered to take us to the Atlantic Locks of the Canal so we went. We also got a close up view of the new locks (the poured cement, the new lake, the temporary road that they've put in to dam the lake until they're ready to blow it). He drove us right through the construction area (like, hard hats are required where we were driving :p) It was very interesting. He also took us all over Colon - the rich areas, the poor areas, showed us the prison, the churches, the places built by Americans, the places being rebuilt by Panamanians.

It was a great tour. We ended up giving him $100 (because taking us to the canal wasn't in the original price) plus a $20 tip. He just really made it a wonderful tour.

When we arrived back at the port, we did a little shopping for souvenirs and then headed back onto the ship about 3pm.

It was going to be a tough push up the ramp back onto the ship and I tried to take my mom up forward but the front wheels just would co-operate. A nice gentleman who was cruising (on our ship but not a ship employee) helped me take my mom up backwards (me pulling and him pushing on the chair arms - which also made her feel secure because he was right in front of her if she started to slip). I thanked him and then he just disappeared.

Whoever you are, if you're reading this - THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH!

So we had an excellent day in Panama which I'm very glad about because there is no guarantee we'll get there again. It's not a usual port stop so it could very well be a once in a lifetime thing.

Back on the ship meant 3 things, bathroom / drink / food and in that order.

After we'd all had a bathroom break, we headed up to the buffet. It was that inbetween time where the only things open were pizza and the deli. I guess Guy's was too but at that moment it was just too far to go without having something to drink first.

My dad got my parent coffee (weirdos) and I got some iced tea lemonade ( a mix of half half) and I went up and ordered pizza. I had originally ordered 3 different slices but then saw that we was making a whole pizza so just asked for the whole pizza, make it pepperoni and please add extra sauce (the extra sauce is how my dad prefers it). No problem. After a brief wait, we had a very hot, very fresh, very good pizza.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20286.jpg

We normally order a thicker crust pizza at home but this was just awesome.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20287.jpg

We decided on the buffet again for dinner because Interstellar was playing and I really wanted to see it. I just have to say that the movie was surprising in so many ways. I do recommend it if you like thinking movies.

I guess my parents didn't take any pictures of their dinners because the only one I have is mine. That's probably okay because I think I cover all the bases of the buffet. I can tell you for certain that my mom had some more fresh, raw veggies and probably some lasagna.

I had a very mixed plate. Starting from the front, I had a flat iron steak. They had two pans out - 1 medium well and 1 medium rare. Despite what you might think about a steak being served buffet style, this was excellent. I guess because they were putting out only 8-10 in a pan, the steak was hot and fresh and cooked exactly as described. The meat was also tender and juicy. I loved it.

To the left is the lasagna (I think it was vegetarian but can't remember 100%); next to it was a chicken parm. It was okay but the chicken had that fake taste to it - like it had been processed and made to look like a chicken breast but it isn't an actual chicken breast.

I also had some Caesar salad and some potato salad.

Overall, tonight's dinner in the buffet was one of the best.

Carnival%20Pride%202015%20289.jpg

We all skipped the buffet desserts and instead decided to have ice cream cones for the start of the movie (along with some fresh popped popcorn). I had also purchased some popcorn flavour salts before the cruise. It was pretty awesome sitting up on deck, enjoying a movie and some Baby back rib flavoured popcorn (we also had a butter salt we used one night and it was equally good).

The next day was another sea day which meant another lunch in the dining room.

It was an interesting, blended menu. I think it's the one that's used to be when they only had a single lunch menu on the ships.

My mom started with the caprese salad. She didn't really enjoy this. The cheese was just way too much and I ended up having to slice up the tomato for her. I'm sure they were trying for a unique presentation (which it was); it just didn't make the mark on the actual taste / edibility.

For my starter I had the Southwest Chicken Caesar. I don't know what was supposed to make it southwest though? The chicken was tasty, the salad though had too much dressing for my taste and so was limp. There was nice slices of parmesan cheese which were great and I'd say between that and the chicken it was still worth ordering.

My dad went with two entrees. First was the pork chop. The chop was good and the presentation was nice. The meat was cooked so it was fully done but still juicy.

For his second entrée and my main, we both had the fried fish sandwich. This was good. The fish was very crispy, with enough mayo to provide a good contrast. The bun was also fresh and held up well to the large piece of fish.

My mom wanted something simple and something different than what she's eaten recently on the cruise so she went with the pasta. It had a meat sauce and again some nice pieces of parmesan cheese.

Both my dad and I got the chocolate tart for dessert. It was exceptionally good. My mom ate the little chocolate and cream cups that decorated the plates. She didn't really want anything particular.

Dinner tonight was a very different menu. It was one of those that is only included on long cruises.

For starters I went with the mussels with green asparagus. These were quite good. They popped right out of the shell and had a nice bit of garlic seasoning. The asparagus was tender and perfectly cooked.

My dad went with his regular shrimp cocktail but also ordered some vegetable spring rolls for a change

My mom went with both a soup and an appetizer.

First was the "Potage Bonne Femme" which is a creamy potato and mushroom soup. She enjoyed this.

The appetizer was Gravlaks (from the didja ever part). She loves smoked salmon so she really enjoyed this.

For entrees I went with something a little different, a little lighter. The vegetarian entrée of roasted fennel and braised leeks. This wasn't as flavourful as I expected. The tempura green beans it was served with were very good though.

As a back up I also ordered the salmon from the everyday menu. It was very good.

My dad ordered the roast striploin. He didn't really enjoy this beef. It was tough and I think because of the way they were served, they weren't as hot as they should have been. He also ordered a flat iron steak (no picture, sorry) which was very good.

My mom ordered the veal in a mushroom sauce. She enjoys well done, slow cooked meats so this was something she really did enjoy. It was seasoned well and extremely tender.

Dessert was a mixed bag. To start there was a type of bread pudding. It came as only half a cup which is unusual.

And then a peach panna cotta with some strawberries on the side (important to note for one of the upcoming dishes).

My dad had asked if he could have vanilla ice cream with some strawberries and whipped cream but ended up with vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and no strawberries because "the strawberries had all turned". Which is amazing since my mom's dessert had some sliced strawberries on it.

He also ordered the coconut cake (which has a slice of thin, dried pineapple on top). This was good and kind of made up for the no strawberries.

I had a warm chocolate melting cake with chocolate ice cream.
