I am having difficulty with a 'new' Platinum CC membership number for some reason, yet since April 24th I have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply from the customer services department here in the UK.

Has anybody else had problems with replies from the customer services people and how long did it take please?

Replies can take weeks. :(

Your number does not change, only your status. Once you are assigned a CC#, it stays with you throughout your different tiers.

That is my point, my number HAS changed and it is inferred that as a UK resident I have booked a Princess cruise in the USA, which I never have. Princess does not allow that!!!!! Still waiting for a reply and can't understand why they take so long to respond............

As previously said, your number will not change.

In my experience dealing with Princess in the UK, has always been good, how did you contact them?

Email and have just had an acknowledgement. Is there a better way perhaps?

Sometimes duplicate numbers get assigned. Have you tried calling to speak with the CC desk at Princess? Or did you email customer relations? There is an email

c a p t a i n s c i r c l e @ princesscruises. com. Not sure if you can access that from the UK. :)

It is not a duplicate number, it is totally different even from the three other members of the family! I was advised to email customer services by Princess themselves, but thanks for this address - I may send a copy to them too...............

Glad they have now acknowledged your email, but I would not have been happy waiting that long. If you have a Princess Personal specialist they are a good port of call for all queries. If not I would telephone using 0845 355 0065.

Frustrating thing to happen, but very easy to sort out once you get someone to deal with it.

This is what happened to me a few years back, at that time people resident in the United Kingdom were permitted to book a Princess Cruise using a travel agent located in the USA. So I did. They issued me with another Captains Circle Number and I assumed two identities in their system. However on returning to the UK I noticed this and telephoned the Carnival House people in Southampton and they looked into it. Eventually after consulting US end they sorted amalgamating to a single identity and things went fine.

As a UK based cruiser you must also look into whether you have travelled on any P&O cruises and get them logged into Princess system too. All this is done at the Carnival House offices by phone is best by the way. These cruises count as a single credit and help your Captains Circle level. There are also a few other lines that qualify but they are more obscure and ancient.

The rules about booking a Princess Cruise Line cruise when you are a UK resident have changed since the time I refer to above. If you reside in the UK but have a USA postal address you may book, you may also book where you do not have a US address but will be sharing a cabin with a US citizen. If you do not have a US address at all but have previously booked a Princess cruise with a US Travel Agent you may book another Princess cruise with a US travel agent provided it is the same agent you booked your previous cruise with.

I believe these rules are about the cruise line not losing revenue by people booking in the US where cruises are often discounted.

Thanks for your reply. I have now copied my Princess Personal Specialist (????) and even he hasn't acknowledged my email. So much for customer service and it is 18 days now since my original communication with them!

That really isn't good enough, I would be very frustrated. I'm afraid I can't suggest any other route. Other than is it something that can be left until you board and sorted directly with the Captains Circle Host?

If you have not heard back in another couple of weeks hit reply on your original email and put SECOND REQUEST in the subject line and resend it. And keep sending it every couple of weeks after that until someone gives you an answer. Yes it is a pain in the behind but in this case I hope persistence pays off in the long run.

Thanks - and I agree - just not good enough, but I will bide my time and see what transpires in the coming days................

I have forwarded my emails to the Captains Circle 'brigade' this afternoon so we'll see what that does or doesn't bring!

Stop with the emails and make the phone call... :)

I agree with this Colin. The girls at Carnival House are very good and the P&O and Princess teams are very close. Phone calls are best and you dont have to wait long just ask for "Captains Circle". I often get mine sorted out while I wait on the phone. As an example I cruised on P&O and the Princess Cruise Line Log In "future cruise" shows it up then it goes to "completed" on your log when you get home and finally when you have been back home 24hrs your point is added. This "Cruise History" should list every qualifying cruise you have ever made.

I have even got my daughters cruise history updated by phoning because she "changed names" but is obviously still the same person.

Regards John
