sail7seas Posted May 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Bermuda is a rather costly island. Most everything is imported so it's pricey. You might some British goods for decent prices but don't plan on bargain hunting.
OCruisers Posted May 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Mostly better quality items in Bermuda so this is reflected in the prices. ;) LuLu

Yes, the British goods, relatively speaking, are decent because it's cheaper than going to the UK to get them.;):)
Bonnie J. Posted May 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2015 When we were there I bought half a mug. The mug was cut in half. It says 'Everything in Bermuda is so expensive I could only buy 1/2 a mug"!
jamic16 Posted May 13, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Do you use your debit card or can u use cash?
Rare theminnow Posted May 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2015 We used cash for small purchases and a credit card for large purchases. Also while in Bermuda, the Bermuda dollar is equal to the US Dollar. Not sure if that is true when you get back home. Just be careful of the bills you receive in change as you may get Bermudian dollars. If you do get Bermudian dollars, keep them if you want a souvenir, or spend them before you leave. Enjoy your cruise. Craig
ozarkmama Posted May 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2015 There is an entire port of call forum devoted to Bermuda http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
cruisead Posted May 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2015 I never use a debit card off the ship because they can easily be cloned. My SIL had her debit card cloned on a cruise, in a port, and they took a lot of money out of her checking account.
marco Posted May 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) OP: What were you intending to buy? There are few local had crafted pottery artisans and some nice things made from Bermuda cedar. If you were thinking more along the lines of British high end goods like Waterford, Royal Dalton, Galloway, Wedgewood, linens and woolens....there really are no bargains and the goods are pretty much as "expensive" as they are stateside. Rare Hlitner Posted May 13, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 13, 2015 In recent years we have been underwhelmed by shopping in Bermuda. We thought things started going downhill ever since Triminghams closed their large store in Hamilton. You can certainly find some decent British (and European labels) in some Bermuda shops, but we can usually find the same products in the US (in decent shops and online) for less money. DW and I still enjoy shopping on the island, but we usually manage not to buy anything of value. Hank
