Rod in Az Posted August 22, 2016 #1577 Share Posted August 22, 2016 I just signed up. Pretty easy. How does it show up on your credit card statement? Verizon states how the charge will appear. You should receive an email saying it will show up as a charge to: Rewards Redemption. That is how all of mine have been listed .
Rod in Az Posted August 22, 2016 #1578 Share Posted August 22, 2016 It didn't work online for me, had to call Carnival. Online said only one of three cards had any money on it. Call the redemption center. Out of 70+ cards I have had 3 that were a problem. They fixed all of them for me.
Rod in Az Posted August 22, 2016 #1579 Share Posted August 22, 2016 I have never used these gift cards, so let me see if I understand this correctly. If I purchase gift cards from AARP, I can apply those gift cards to my cruise reservations? So i would be able to reduce the price of my cruises. Right now I have the Vista booked for approximately 3800.00. 1000.00 already deposited. So I could purchase 5 500 gift cards for a 2250. Then I could purchase 3 100 gift cards for 270. if I apply all of these gift cards to my reservation I would pay 2520 instead of 2800. I do have some AARP points, but i will start working on getting more if this is the case. I just want to make sure i can do this. Yes, if you owe $2,800, you could buy $2,800 in cards for $2,520 (plus $.59 per card) and you would pay 10% less (without shipping per card). It really is a good deal. we bought over $12,000 worth for a family cruise. There are no "catches" on this deal. It is like you bought them at face value. LeeRB Posted August 22, 2016 #1581 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Sure would be nice if Princess did this. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Wouldn’t it though; I have bought a few cards, over the last couple months, directly from Princess (full price) to help cover the drink package for my Regal Princess cruise over Thanksgiving. While I don’t like the full price end of it; I drive to port and am hoping that it will lessen the hit to the old credit card caused by the drinks/drink package. I have three nights on the road (2 going and 1 back) when sailing out of Port Everglades. I would also like to see RCL forget about those gift certificates they have, that are only good for a new booking and replace them with gift cards that work like Carnival’s. I have seen on RCL’s page where they have another gift certificate, available from them directly, naturally; that can be used towards on-board credit as well as towards the purchase of the cruise, but it can’t be used on the ship (?). Beach710 Posted August 22, 2016 #1582 Share Posted August 22, 2016 There are no "catches" on this deal. It is like you bought them at face value. There may be a catch if you buy travel insurance (not sure about the cruise line insurance) and have to use it. You may not be reimbursed since they don't seem to considered it 'money'. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This myth comes up with just about every gift card thread. The only time it's going to be an issue is if you are using the insurance through one of your credit cards. In that case every single penny of that vacation needs to be charged to that specific card. Otherwise, it makes zero difference.

lbj08 Posted August 28, 2016 #1588 Share Posted August 28, 2016 For those of you that have access to Meijer stores, They have a special on gift cards until 9/10. For every $50 you spend on gift cards you receive a reward for $3 to spend on your next visit. It's not much, but every little bit counts. You have to sign up for their M plus program and tag the offer. I have saved $12 on $200 so far.
loganvillemommy Posted September 4, 2016 #1589 Share Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) That's 6%. That's about the portion of your income that goes to FICA. Look at your year-to-date total on that. 6% adds up quickly! I'd love to earn that rate of return on a savings account! lazyart Posted September 9, 2016 #1593 Share Posted September 9, 2016 Yeah, it's quite normal. The last one I needed to cover tips came in earlier this week. $1600 total purchased, meaning we saved $160 on our sailing later this month. We saved a bit more than that because we booked using a casino offer which lowered the cabin rate even more. :)

Beach710 Posted September 10, 2016 #1595 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Where are you getting that info from? This is just like using cash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I asked at tripinsurancestore.com before purchasing trip insurance. I was told the insurance companies will not reimburse any amount paid for with gift cards. I don't want to save 10% just to be out 100% + the cost of insurance if I have to cancel. If you get the cruise line (carnival) insurance it may not mater but if you use another insurance company it may be a problem. You can also search this issue on the trip insurance board. I would check with the insurance company you choose.

When you call InsureMyTrip and get a policy, they never ask how you paid for it. If it's true then shouldn't they be asking the question before they sell you a policy? I will be pretty upset if this is the case for all third party insurance. Edited September 10, 2016 by firemanbobswife

firemanbobswife Posted September 10, 2016 #1599 Share Posted September 10, 2016 You might want to ask. I asked because I had read about problems on the trip insurance board. Shouldn't they be required to disclose that upfront or have it be in your policy somewhere under exclusions? I just checked my Nationwide Cruise Choice plan and don't see anything about it. I almost feel like it is fraud or something (I'm not a legal expert by any means) by misleading the consumer into thinking their trip is covered if in fact, it's not.
