Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted June 16, 2015 #26 Share Posted June 16, 2015 Maybe they increased the rates after you booked and are not applying the new rates retroactively. No, I just started another dummy booking and the PVP is still being charged at 8% (cruise fare of $1099).
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted June 16, 2015 #27 Share Posted June 16, 2015 Okay, I may be incorrect. I guess the difference in Vacation Protection cost is the difference in how much the cruise is costing. I received a discount due to using referral program. Our base fares were the same to start with, but I had a larger discount. It took me days to figure this one out. newparks Posted June 16, 2015 #28 Share Posted June 16, 2015 Thank Rick, Where did you find this? This is definitely a change from three months ago when there was a three tier breakdown. I also thought it was a 2 tier system?
cactusrose Posted July 3, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Stacy we have cruises booked into 2017 and the insurance was still 8%. That's why I said MAY increase. Sailings before summer of 2016 are still charged on the three tier system which is Up to $2,499.99 is 8% and 12% $2,500.00 to $4,999.99 is 7% and 11% $5,000 and greater is 6% and 10% You can see this in this brochure on page 96 https://book.princess.com/images/cc/brochure/downloads/Princess-Alaska-Brochure-2015.pdf Effective with sailings in the summer of 2016 the third tier has been eliminated so cruise fare $2,500 or greater will now be 7% and 11%.
