Carnival Sunshine 8/8/15 8 day sailing review with pics

Some general observations.... The first is that Guys on the Sunshine was by far the least crowded of any ship we have been on that had a Guys on it. One of the things I do not understand is why you have to wait for popcorn until the Dive in movie starts (I love popcorn:D). Our last couple of cruises, the Dive In movie has been near to capacity for the late seating when I have looked.

The Guys Burgers on the Glory was busy but not terrible, the fries are wonderful, we split a burger and got double fries....

As for the popcorn - that is annoying, maybe a question for J.Heald? I wonder if he could get that changed?

The gym on the Sunshine was less crowded than any of recent memory (we do go early....). It is interesting how casino traffic changes, this sailing the tables seemed to be more quiet than on recent past sailings. We did not get bocccacio bread in the steakhouse :( Why do they have the doors to the bathrooms in Serenity remote control (small bathroom and they take forever to close)???? I did not see many people using the (insert arms) hand washers.

The fries are great (as are the burgers). I do remember a while back they charged $2 a box for the popcorn, but that was short lived. Maybe so for John, he is rather busy deflecting some more important things now, but I will tuck that away for future reference.

I'm Sssoooo worried. We booked a sunshine cruise as the family cruise. And then I read all these posts of it being so crowded. I really want the kids and grandkids to have a fabulous time. That's why we booked this ship. We won't care, but I hope we can figure it our for them to have a great time

I would not worry about how crowded the ship is, and the waiting for the comedy club, sounds like less than terrible problems - I will say that if you go during a holiday week or summer break, cruises will feel more crowded as a lot of people max out cabins. But we try and choose non-holiday weeks for cruising, its just better for us.

I think you will be fine, I did not address it all that much, but the water park was not crowded at all. Sure, if it is a sea day will the main pool be full? Yes. Our two little grand kids had no issues whatsoever. They will be fine.

Hey Jimbo! Great review! Looking forward to more pictures.:D:D

Question for you....

You mention that you don't find it any more crowded than the Conquest class ships.

We have never been on a ship with the "stadium" style seating on the Lido.

I don't like the looks of it.

We've been on the Pride, which was pretty wide open, and on the Breeze twice. (Our current favorite)

Are you a fan of the stadium style seating? It just seems so choppy.

With that being said, there is some stuff on the Sunshine that looks great and also, cruising out of NYC is on my bucket list.

Just having issues with the stadium seating. We tend to spend a lot of time on the Lido deck during the day.

TIA!:D

Thanks! To be honest, the stadium approach is not my favorite. On ships like that we tend more towards the upper level, forward. The Sunshine had it in a more broken out arrangement.

Think we will probably stick with the Magic and pray that she gets the 2.0 upgrades. Lol. As long as I have my Lido deck balcony I am fine. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Well, I sure don't think you can go wrong on the Magic at all! I have seen rumors but nothing official on the 2.0 upgrades (remaining to be done on her). We have sailed her twice and loved it both times!

Wonderful Review Jim!! Can't wait for my turn to sail on the Sunshine.

Thanks! I have loved doing it. Been running around in the evening. Need to be home to get to the pics I want to upload, that and a few more comments will be pretty much it.

Thanks for taking the time to do this review! Great pictures! We were on the Sunshine in June and absolutely loved it, so your review brought back good memories.

Your welcome! Believe me it's my pleasure. It has helped me keep it alive in my memory by doing the review.
