S.S.Oceanlover Posted August 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2015 When I cruised DCL years ago there was no dinner buffet. You had to eat in the dining room. Has that changed since my cruises on DCL years ago? Bill
Shmoo here Posted August 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) When I cruised DCL years ago there was no dinner buffet. You had to eat in the dining room. Has that changed since my cruises on DCL years ago? Bill There is dinner service in the buffet areas (Beach Blanket Buffet on the Wonder, Cabanas on all other ships). However, it's a sit-down table service with a menu of selected items available in the other MDRs that evening, as well as a salad bar and carving station. And it's not open on the first and last nights of the cruise. On some cruises, they do serve buffet-style for dinner, on those port days that the ship departs late. But it's not often. To add to this because the "buffet" area sit down meal is not offered on either the first or the last night of a cruise on a 3 night cruise, it is only your middle day, and on a 4 night cruise it is the 2 middle days which means that one of your menus is basically the same as the Pirate night menu with a couple of items. moki'smommy Posted August 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2015 As above, the area that is a buffet at breakfast and lunch is a sit down, cruise casual, no reservations needed, no additional charge dinner. They select some items from the MRD menus, have a "carved item," and a salad bar. It is not available on the first or last night of any cruise. Actually, it was great food and service! Cabanas did offer sit down dinners on all nights but the last night before returning to Port Canaveral. As others have posted, similar food to what is offered in the main dining venues. Best of all, you have an actual view of the ocean and the staff was fantastic. Didn't feel rushed at all due to a very relaxed environment.
