Peemagg Posted September 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) Hi all, We are looking at at flight out of Fort Lauderdale that leaves at 9:45am. If we do self assist and have Fttf, would this flight be possible to catch? We are also traveling with one person who uses a manual wheelchair. I don't know if that is something that could also throw a monkey wrench into the equation. Any help greatly appreciated! We are sailing on Carnival Conquest in January 2016. Rare LHT28 Posted September 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) probably not is it a domestic flight (within the USA) ? the ship docks at 8am by the looks of it then it will have to be cleared before anyone gets off Do you have a back up plan if you miss the flight? Peemagg Posted September 2, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted September 2, 2015 We haven't booked any flights home yet. Just trying to get opinions from others about what they think about this.
sail7seas Posted September 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) There is no way I would book that flight. It is inconsistent how many CBP Officials are at any Disembarkation on any given day and the lines to clear Customs and Immigration can be very long. You possibly could make it but it is a big risk you may not make it. Edited September 2, 2015 by sail7seas
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Too risky, I would not do it. Keith
SuiteTraveler Posted September 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2015 We made a flight at 10:30, but didn't have a person in a wheelchair who will definitely require extra time and potentially a special cab equipped for people in wheelchairs. Have you asked this person what they do when they need to use a taxi? Can get get out of the wheelchair and into a van on their own? You may need to book a special van with a chair lift, if not. Even if it was just me and my husband I would not do a 9:30 flight. But here are a couple of things that can help with an early flight: 1. Print tickets out on the ship 2. Have nothing to declare. 3. Curbside check in 4. Use your Trusted Traveler to be pre-checked through TSA Security. http://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs This can often save you up to 1 hour standing in the TSA security line.
