CAS Tier Levels

Is there anyone who has knowledge of the CAS tier leveling status?

I've booked with CAS for years. Each time I board the ship, I have "HOT" Status. This past October, I boarded the ship as "LUCKY" (the lowest tier level). My prior cruise was in January when I was only 4,000 points away from "GOLDEN". When I questioned it, I was told that all points revert to zero on April 1st.

However, the letter in my cabin stated as follows:

"All earned points from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015 determine the tier level status of each player but will not count towards tier elevation. This determined tier level status will stay with the player until the next evaluation date of March 31, 2016. Players must earn the total required reward points of the next tier level between April 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 in order to receive the status upgrade. (Example: A HOT Player must earn 15,000 points from April 1-March 31 in order to elevate to Golden).

I didn't expect that I would be elevated to Golden; however, I did expect to remain at the "HOT" Level.

Can anyone help with the explanation?

Tiers:

Lucky. No minimum points

Hot. Earn 5,000 Reward Points during the evaluation period

Golden. Earn 15,000 Reward Points during the evaluation period

VIP. Earn 35,000 Reward Points during the evaluation period

You post implied that you had earned 11,000 points during the period April 1, 2014 and January 2015. Based on your comment, that means that you would have been on at least 3 cruises between April 1 2014 and January 2015. And that you earned a total of 11,000 points between April 1, 2014 and January 2015. If all of this is true, then you should have had a Hot status during your October cruise.

You could call CAS prior to cruise to see where they have you before you board. I've also found that the Casino Host on board can look things up if you ask where you are for the year. I always keep track of how many points earned per cruise, which ship, and travel dates. Then if there appears to be a discrepancy, talk to a Casino Host on board. There can be something missed, but they can check to give you credit if you can tell them which ship & dates.

Thanks! Good advice! I never thought of calling CAS before I board! The Casino Host was like "this is what it is....get over it"! I still didn't understand what she was talking about but decided not to upset myself on vacation.

I was on one cruise between April 2014-January 2015. However, on the cruise in Jan. 2015, I earned in excess of 5,000 points (HOT). So, wouldn't that stay with me until 2016?

Yes, if you earned in excess of 5,000 point in January 2015, that would qualify you to be HOT through April 2016. You can call CAS and ask them what they think your point totals were on your two cruises during the April 2014-March 2015 period was.

You absolutely should have been "HOT" in October - providing that none of the points you are counting were "bonus" points. As the CAS letter states, you should receive your tier benefits from the previous evaluation period (up until March 31, 2016.

And right now (from 4/1/15 until 3/31/16) we are all earning points that will determine our tier level until 3/31/17.

I would definitely call CAS! Someone owes you a dinner at least ;)

Good luck! :)

Most Casino Hosts are more willing to help or explain things, but clearly she wasn't one of them! It will help them if you can tell them which dates/ships your last cruises were on.

Thanks everybody for your help!

I will call CAS before my January cruise!!! None of this is whether or not I agreed with anything....it was simply that I didn't understand the system and the Casino Host wasn't at all helpful with helping me understand it. It just seemed as though what I was being told contradicted my understanding of the letter in my cabin.

Or here is my take on it.

Yes if you earned 5000 points between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015 you should of been Hot.

BUT.......

In this day and age of free UBP, SDP, our rewards for CAS are worth even less than what they had already been diluted to. I personally would say NOTHING, and hope your still Lucky. You have points earned from October so you must be

very close to Hot. At 5000 points you will get the 5000 point bonus for achieving Hot and a dinner. Use the 5000 points as free play unless you have some on board spending it will cover.

With them taking away the good perks we were receiving with CAS, the only real perk for playing anymore is for fun and comped cruises.

I see no tier benefit from Lucky to Hot, for these reasons.

If you booked through CAS you will have a drink card even with Lucky.

If you booked with free UBP, above drink card is worthless.

If you booked with free SDP, dinner is almost worthless.

Yes, you have lost the comped dinner for now, BUT at 5000 points you will receive the dinner PLUS 5000 bonus points ($50). If they reinstate your Hot status you will loose the 5000 bonus and have to achieve Golden (15000 points) before the next bonus.

Then again, come to think of it, with all the changes to CAS in the past year I'm not even sure their still doing the bonus points and dinners at level changes??????

Our last cruise in Aug on the BA, the CAS dinner did not come with s bottle of wine! We were told - at dinner - that if we wanted the bottle, we would need to go to casino, speak to the host, and have them ok it from the bar. Forget it!! We had UBP so we just ordered drinks. Wonder what changes are next.

Safe sailing

The voucher for dinner only stated with the new CAS year in April. That's for the tier benefit dinner.

If the casino hosts comp additional dinners, they will issue a certificate like "the old day" that includes wine.

At the start of the year they also chafed from a thermal suite pass to a $150/$300 spa credit.

I actually liked the Spa credit better! So that one change actually worked out well for me.

Just off the Breakaway. DH and I each had the certificate for the CAS comped dinner. I had read that it no longer included wine. In Teppanaki, no wine but in Moderno we were offered the wine list. Didn't question it, just took the free bottle when offered.

Great! If someone offers you free wine, take it!

Just want to kindly point out for the CAS folks; this is not true. The drink card can be used to get FREE bottles of water and energy drinks (red bull) in the casino. Both of those are not included in your UBP.

Just a heads up because I took advantage of both on my cruise last month! It was great getting a few bottles of water to take back to the room for free. :D

Absolutely correct.

I stand corrected. I knew that :)

I should of said, "nearly worthless" :D

Next cruise I will see if I can order a Jager Bomb with UBP.

Then if I can................. A Jager Bomb, hold the Jager

Jager bombs would get me into too much trouble.. especially in the casino! ;)

Jäger bomb has red bull thus not included in the UBP so that is one of the reasons the casino card is not worthless. I get cherry vodka and rebull all the time from the casino.

I switched my OPINION to nearly worthless. :)

But I would BET. This is a CAS thread, were gamblers.

If I order a Jager Bomb they would take my UBP card rather than

my CAS card. (I'll know come Feb, I forgot about Jagerbombs and might want to be a wide awake drunk.)

I order coffee Kahlua all the time (every morning casino open) with no issues on UBP.

My Sept 13th cruise not one drink was placed on my CAS drink card (Golden),

every drink was on the UBP card.

Back to the OP's original question and my theory.

Has anyone upgraded a level since April 1st, 2015 and did they receive the bonus points and dinner?

If bonus points/dinner are still given, IMO they would be better off Lucky going into their Jan cruise and enjoy the 5000 points when achieving Hot.

If you order a drink with alcohol and red I'll they will take both your key and CAS card and charge the alcohol to the UBP and the red bull to the CAS drink card. I did that ALOT on my breakaway cruise this past September.

I did have both the UDP and the CAS drink card. I noticed on my final bill that I was charged for water about 4 times! I didn't dispute it as I wasn't interested in standing in line at Guest Services.

If you didn't get the water from the casino, you will be charged. Stupid ways they do things.

Safe sailing
