Grandchildren First Cruise

We are taking our grandchildren (ages 6 & 8) on their first cruise. We will be on Enchantment of the Seas departing Cape Canaveral on November 28 for 3 days. What suggestions do you have to keep the kids entertained?

Is the fort at Nassau still open to the public? How much is the entry fee?

What about the Pirate Museum in Nassau? Is it worth going to?

What type of activities are on Cocoa Cay? Are there any free or less expensive activites than those I am seeing on-line?

Also, hubby is purchasing the $8.00 per day drink package for him and me but the grandkids don't drink soda. Are they any cheaper options for water rather that the $49.00 package.

6 And 8 is a great age to cruise.

Can't really help with Nassau but check out the Ports board

On Coco Cay just make it a relaxing beach day. The beach is free, the loungers are free you can rent a raft for under 20.

My Kids love the blow up water slide. The water park will most likely not be worth the money, its only for a hour and its harder than it looks especially for younger kids.

The ships water is good to drink you can either bring refillable bottles or bring some bottled water on board with you.

Our kids at that age loved the zoo, it is easy to get to by public bus (first time we went there we walked but it is a long walk at that age and the public bus is cheap). They do a flamingo show there where the kids can actually participate. There is time to do this and still walk up to the fort. Do suggest the public bus though for going to and from the zoo (about $1 a person)

No need to spend money on "excursions" at Coco Cay...it's a beach day...let the kids play in the sand and water. Many will bring their own blow up floats...the floating mats are pricey and big and heavy! Lunch is served on the beach...or you can go back to the ship to eat..your choice!

Ice water is included in your fare, along with coffee, ice or hot tea, lemonade, milk and juice at breakfast. You can buy the occasional soda by the can, if you want. Any bar or eating venue will give you ice water whenever you want it. In your cabin, ask the attendant for daily ice, as the tap water never "runs cold"...it's the same water as in the food, beverages and ice!
