electra2008 Posted November 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Just looking at the port list for upcoming trip at St Maarten it says quite a long walk along pier at other ports it say times ie. 5 mins. Walking is no problem for us, touch wood, just wondered if anyone knows
Underwatr Posted November 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2015 (edited) You can walk into town (under a mile, I think) but there's also an inexpensive boat from just beyond the shops at the pier that will drop you off at one of 2 or 3 locations in the middle of the beach area. I think the cost of the boat is something like 2 or 3 dollars. You can see the town from the ship and vice versa so it will be clear whether you'll want to walk or ride. skyhawk352 Posted November 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Is it walkable, yes. But it's a 'healthy' walk. Plus don't forget once you do get to town you'll be walking more in a direction away from the dock, so an even further walk back. I'd probably recommend the water shuttle each way, or walking into town and then taking the shuttle back. On a side note, at Amber Cove we were told it's a 5 minute walk also. It definitely was not. I walked from the port to the point that you'll see of the left hand side pulling in with the gazebo, and that was 25-30 minutes. In St Thomas we docked in Crown Bay. That was a 2-mile walk into town. There were plenty of shuttles into town if you wished to take one, I believe they were asking $4 pp each way. Have a great cruise! Sauer-kraut Posted November 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2015 I walked from the EPIC to the dock shops with a boot cast on my leg and had little problem but I wouldn't have walked any farther. At the end of the dock shops was a taxi stand and many were getting a mini-van lift to somewhere. I believe there was a price board at the stand as well. Hope this helps. Rare Keith1010 Posted November 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2015 The walk into town will take around 20 to 25 minutes. As mentioned, if you walk from the ships berth about five minutes there is a taxi boat that will take you to town. Keith
