Roll Call Questions

Is there a way to contact a roll call member directly without having their e mail address (ie through Cruise Critic)? I had posted info about a private tour I was considering booking and two had replied they'd like to join us which, of course, makes the price cheaper. Now they haven't checked back in for awhile so I haven't been able to notify them that I am ready to book the tour and want them to join us. Also, I have never booked like this with people I have never met from the board. With no deposit required by the tour director, how do we know these people will show up? We don't want to get to the port and find the tour will cost us twice the price because the others don't show up. Any advice on this matter will be a big help. Thanks for all help and info.

There is no way to directly contact a Cruise Critic member without their email address. CC does not offer a Personal Message facility.

As mentioned above, try leaving a message on the Roll Call for them.

If you do get hold of them, I would arrange a place to meet on the day of the tour so you can all walk off together.

When I arranged private tours with my Roll Call passengers, on my Roll Call I put my email address, I asked them to email me so I had their email address to discuss the tour, also mention if they have to cancel to let let you know as soon as possible so you can get someone else as it will effect the cost of the tour. I asked for their first and last name (having their Cruise Critic names does not help if you have to contact them onboard) and their cabin number so you are able to contact them on the ship. Arrange to meet together so you know who they are once Onboard if you do not have Roll Call Meet and Greet. I arranged a meeting spot where we would meet 1/2 hour before the tour so we would all leave the ship together to make sure everyone was there.

As phabric stated:

We did this on the Island Princess for all shared tours in the Mediterranean this year. It worked very well. I did post my email in my signature - not my regular email but one I use for traveling and such. I had their full names, email addresses, cabin number. Since it was a long trip, I even put reminders in their mailboxes a day or two before the excursion. We met in the casino area and walked off together. **Not knowing the nature of your tour, it's always good to review what the tour entails so no one is disappointed in missing something they expected to see. If a deposit is necessary make sure everyone pays their own deposit directly to the tour operator (not you). Enjoy!

Hi

I slight word of caution about booking private tours, too quickly

I ask tour buddies to e mail me directly so we can chat,

where possible I also like to have a reserve as some one always decides to cancel

the cruise if book a year or more out from sailing date.

Closer to sailing l like to have cabin numbers,

Even if tour provider does not need a deposit, if an expensive tour I would request a deposit.

I have had folks leave a message the morning of the tour that they had changed

there minds, lucky I was able to find replacements.

yours Shogun
