Currency exchange on cruiseship

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to know if I can get cash using my credit card on my cruise.

I hate to have to carry lots of cash while travelling.

I am Canadian and our currency exchange with the US is quite expensive at this time.

I would just bill it to my cabin card when on the boat. It goes to your credit card without cash advance fees.

You might want to visit the guest services or check your room TV for current charges every 2nd day to avoid sticker shock on the final day.

Agree. I would be VERY careful taking cash out against your credit card. Cash Advances against a credit card come with hefty fees.

If by chance you are cruising Royal Caribbean, and I believe Celebrity has the same deal, and booked in Canadian funds, they are offering on board credit at an exchange rate of 1.10 for US funds.

Hi jtdlmc,

Can you explain the US/CDN OBC

We are CAD and traveling soon on Celebrity. Our cruise was booked with US travel agent in US funds. We have $150 OBC US funds. Do you know is there a way to purchase additional OBC using a CDN cc on board at that preferred exchange rate? I used my CDN card for my xpress pass for any additional charges.
