How can I tell if a category is "sold out"?

I currently have a GTY Oceanview cabin on the Celebrity Summit for April 2nd and I'm trying to guess whether or not I'll get an upgrade. I know it's not scientific and is totally up to the cruise line, but I'm wondering if there is a way to determine if all of the oceanview cabins are already sold out. Ive gone to a couple of sites and I can't find any that let me select a specific Oceanview cabin - although most have GTY cabins available.

This is my first time on Celebrity.

Any advice on this matter? Thanks!

You can see if there are any cabins in a category available. Just go to the cruise line or a TA and try to do a fake booking.

However, this does not mean that all cabins in a category are assigned. There could be several guarantees (including yours) and an equal number of unassigned cabins.

Yes, do the dummy booking on the cruise line's website and attempt to book an ocean view cabin. If it's sold out, it will tell you so. Don't forget that just because a category is sold out today doesn't necessarily mean that it will be sold out tomorrow, as a number of people cancel especially around final payment time. Our next cruise has had several categories sold out for months, but just the other day I checked and there were 3 or 4 cabins available. They didn't last long, were gone again the next day.

I agree, I think many times as the cruise is a few weeks out, some folks get moved up to more expensive staterooms, and their vacated staterooms become available.

I wanted to do an Oceania booking yesterday which was shown as available on discount sites. Called O to inquire. Agent sent me details showing all cabins sold and wait listed.Call the cruise line for the real truth.
