meatloafsfan Posted March 16, 2016 Author #176 Share Posted March 16, 2016 The next day was a sea day and so we enjoyed the sea day brunch. My mom was still feeling pretty rough so she ate lightly. For breakfast she just had fruit and cottage cheese (sorry its a bit blurry). I had the huervo ranchero And a side of corn beef hash (god I love that stuff). My dad had pancakes And steak and eggs. Breakfast breads - my mother really enjoyed the lemon poundcake. I prefer the croissants myself (with whipped butter).
meatloafsfan Posted March 16, 2016 Author #177 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Dinner tonight was another Captain's Gala (I think this must have been the second throwback sea day). Appetizers were soup. meh. Salad. meh. Entrees were Lobster and shrimp for both my mother and I (she gave me her lobster, I gave her my shrimp). And my dad had the beef (I have no idea what that half eaten biscuit looking thing is on the plate).
meatloafsfan Posted March 16, 2016 Author #178 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Dessert was a buttermilk, oatmeal coffee cake for my mother (not as good as last week but still good). Another version of strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream for my dad. And a double portion of fruit for me.
meatloafsfan Posted March 16, 2016 Author #179 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Breakfast was a light foray into the buffet - oatmeal and tea for my mother, coffee and a couple of apple pastries for me. After that I went back to bed. I had a late lunch of a salad and some prepared salads when the buffet opened at 5:30pm.

meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #181 Share Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) I swear, I'm almost done! So dinner tonight was not a formal night but the menu was formal night and there was a tablecloth. Without a doubt, tonight I didn't feel well. I couldn't sleep and nothing was working (I had Dayquil, Niquil, Sudafed and benedryl with me). I was tired and grumpy and my food choices reflected that. Appetizers for my parents were: Clam chowder for my mother And pasta e fagoli soup for my dad (this soup and the Italian wedding soup are two soups that Carnival just don't understand - very odd interpretations). My dad also tried the stuffed mushrooms. And of course, a shrimp cocktail I went with just a salad: Edited March 18, 2016 by meatloafsfan
meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #182 Share Posted March 18, 2016 For entrees, both my mother and I had the everyday chicken. It was okay - tasted fine, it was a little thin though. Not a fan of the potato bits - if I were ordering it again, this is one dish I would order extra sides with. My dad had the duo of short ribs and filet mignon and the grilled shrimp. He loved both of these dishes and this is by far, one of his favourite nights in the dining room.
meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #183 Share Posted March 18, 2016 Desserts tonight were: Strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream for my dad. Each night, it seemed to be a more creative and elaborate presentation. The key lime parfait which my mom ordered and couldn't eat. It wasn't until it was presented that she remembered about the kiwi décor. And a grand marnier soufflé for me.
meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #184 Share Posted March 18, 2016 The next day we again hit up the seaday brunch (we prefer the MDR to the buffet). I ordered the hen alla divoli - and some corn beef hash. The dish was excellent, I just couldn't eat much of it. But I couldn't give up one of my last chances at such a fabulous option. My mother must have been feeling a bit better because she ordered more heartily this morning - started with the funniest French toast - coasted with frosted flakes. This was super tasty - just the right sweetness and crunchiness. We all tried it and all three of us liked it. I do not recommend adding anything to it - it's sweet and tasty enough on its own. My mother also ordered an omelet and bacon. While my dad went with pancakes and pork chop (what a combo!) Dessert was banana cream pie for all. This one was still pretty frozen. meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #185 Share Posted March 18, 2016 And our last night dinner. Tonight I started with the French onion soup. Hot and melty. While my dad went with shrimp cocktails and my mother didn't order an appetizer. For entrees, the casino had given me 2 steakhouse selections. My mom decided on just a regular meal because she said that the big steak was kind of a waste for her. She had the prime rib well done tonight. Both my dad and I went with the 12 oz New York steak They were amazing. I also ordered the cinnamon pumpkin cheese pie. I loved this in the past but this time it was terrible. meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #186 Share Posted March 18, 2016 For dessert my mom tried the carrot cake. This was good; however, it's very much worth the $3 for a piece from the coffee shop - that one was 10x better. Where my dad went with 1 last night of pie - blueberry. meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #187 Share Posted March 18, 2016 I have two more pictures that didn't make it into the review (they were on my other camera). And they are pictures of the hot, fresh, made to order pizza. The first was pepperoni And the second was mushroom Both were great!
meatloafsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Author #188 Share Posted March 18, 2016 So that's it! 21 days of food and fun on the Carnival Pride. It was a wonderful vacation, filled with wonderful people, wonderful activities, wonderful ports and of course, wonderful food. I can't wait for my next cruise in July! JohnSpo Posted March 19, 2016 #197 Share Posted March 19, 2016 My next cruise may be on the Fascination that does not have a steakhouse. Your pics of the steakhouse items in the MDR look good. I will have to give them a try.
ATHENA3 Posted March 20, 2016 #198 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Thank you for your review I enjoyed seeing so much of your food pics and the best I’ve seen on here. And thank you for being as honest about the food as to the negative side. Some reviews will not say anything bad about Carnival and to the point the food was BRILLIANT and not express the bad side that some have seen. I have seen your disappointment with lobsters on the ships many times, nothing like being from New England for seafood and also Canada were I was born. I can’t wait for your next review. :)
TexasRed Posted March 20, 2016 #199 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Thank you for your review. We will be on the Breeze in July, and I have been wondering about the new menu items. I will have to give a few new things a try, based on your review. I think my travel agent was on this cruise as well, when I spoke with her about booking the Breeze, she was calling me from Bonaire, I believe it was the first time Carnival had docked there. Someday, I will get to go to some less traveled ports.
