YumYum Man?

Does Veendam still have the YumYum man who rings the chimes at dinner time?

It is something special, a reminder of when cruise ships were ships with pursers, decks and staterooms instead of floating hotels.

He was definitely there on my most recent cruise, and on my parents' most recent cruise.

I don't always hear the chimes because I'm not always in a position to hear them, but I know he's manning the YumYum cart after early fixed seating dinner. Sometimes he's off helping in the dining room and the Maitre D' or another steward will serve guests YumYums.

I only have experience with early fixed seating dinner, though now that I think about it, I did seen him a couple of times chiming for fixed late seating on my last cruise.

I know a Yum Yum Man was still walking through the ship on the Upper Promenade deck chiming for both fixed seatings back in October on Maasdam. I hope it's one of the traditions HAL will hold on to in the future. It is such a lovely way to announce dinner.
