Hi Pam,

No we have not had any discount, but this years cruise for August we had booked last October. I see lots of very good itineraries on the web site, but for is due to work commitments we can't book anything else at the moment.

The cruise we are going on did have a seven seas society discount, so that helped a wee bit. :)Jean.

Hi Jean, glad you have got a cruise booked that you are happy with regardless of the discount. Lots of offers out there but don't think i would be persuaded into them as (with the current climate) it could be a little risky. Also wonder if we (Brits) are also encouraged to book because of our relatively closeness to the areas that are being given the "discount"?

I don't think we particularly benefited from the SS discount,we will have to see if we can get some upgrade or something. Still a while for our cruise and it looks pretty quiet for now so will keep my eye on it.

Pam.

I think you are going to really enjoy your cruise. As I said before we have taken that cruise twice before, and the Navigator cruise was our favourite cruise ever. We always have to book very well ahead due to booking time off at work, but at least we get the cabin and flights we want, and can plan ahead for it all. Like you we will need to get our Canadian and American estas visas pre cruise. :) Jean.

Thanks Jean, really looking forward to it and already have our esta and canadian visa sorted. We are the same that we have to plan ahead due to work so it makes it much more special.

I shouldn't really say this on here but i will anyway.

My beautiful daughter is getting married in the morning and we are very excited. They are also going to the states (first time) and are so looking forward to it!! :D

Have a great day. :):)

PS on the original subject of this thread, I doubt if you will get anyone to admit to making savings; they will either be accused of bragging or being down-market customers who might lower the tone of the sacred Regent Experience

We were extremely lucky and very fortunate, in fact Regent UK and our travel was absolutely brilliant, it all started around a year or so ago when we booked a cruise with Regent traveling from Athens to Istanbul, we were quite excited by the itinerary as we had only been to Athens and Istanbul so all the Greek islands in between were new to us. Unfortunately with the aggro out that way they decided to alter the itinerary to Athens to Venice, which was the same as the cruise we done last year, eventually we decided to cancel and we thought we would lose our deposit, but because the alterations were so great Regant U.k said we could have the deposit back in full, but would we mid just looking to see if another cruise might be of interest.

Like most people we only had a limited time period we could work within well eventually we chose the voyager Stockholm to London cruise, we booked and paid our 20% deposit, you probably can guess what happened next, the very next day the email was sent out advertising the 25% off the cruise we booked the day before. I wasn't happy, so rung the travel agent at nine and they said they already had the invoice for the full amount of the fare, I suggested that they rung Regent Uk to argue our case. But before they could ring they had a revised invoice with twenty five percent off. So we are very contented now, but just slightly puzzled why regent didn't just suggest delaying the booking by a day.

So we benefitted, and I hope that's not seen as bragging, as we I believe could say have accidentally benefitted because of our cancellation.

We have always obtained a price from a recommended specialist US TA for comparison with UK TA offers and always found the US $ price to be only a little lower or higher but in no case did we feel that the difference was worth the exchange rate costs and risk or the increased distance in the TA/client relationship - even given the much better payment and cancellation terms available on US bookings.

This was, however, when booking cruises well in advance rather than looking for last minute 'fill-the-ship' offers.

Well done on getting the discount off your final payment, we will also be looking at getting some sort of discount if the price of our next one goes down much further.

You will not be accused of bragging, more people should be aware of the offers available and contact their TA to make sure they get the best deal possible. We had booked with Regent itself in the past and have now moved on to a TA. I'm also hoping they will be more accommodating.

Hope you have a fantastic trip.

Pam.

Hello everyone, can I give you our observations? For the last year or so, we check any cruises we've booked on Regent's website to see if the price has come down. We're doing Dubai to Barcelona on the Voyager on the 2nd May and when we booked it over 18 months ago, it was very expensive (we only booked it because it'll be our Ruby Wedding Anniversary). Well, between the time we booked and now, the price has come down twice. We were given a revised quotation the first time, but the second time the difference to what we paid and the price now shown was only £40.00 each. However, as this cruise is a special occasion, we asked our TA to ask Regent if they would give us, as a good will gesture, an on board credit of say $100. Well Regent came back and have given us an on board credit of $150 which we're very happy with.

We think that sometimes it can be the luck of the draw as to whether you get all you ask for or not. My brother in law had a cruise booked at the end of May and had paid a deposit of £2,000. Well unfortunately he had to cancel it and Regent told him that he could either transfer the £2,000 over to another cruise for the same price of the original cruise or more, or lose the money altogether. Well he and his wife scoured the brochure but couldn't find anything they wanted to do, so unfortunately had to lose £2,000 which I would have been none to happy about. I don't understand why Regent couldn't have just said transfer the money to any other cruise.

Anyway, we've only been cruising with Regent for just under two years, usually sailing with Silversea and Seabourn and we've found Regent to be just as good - so far.

As to the original question of the 25% discount, we know that a lot of US clients aren't very happy about this because they weren't offered it, but checking on their website and using our 2nd May cruise as an example, where it gives all that's on offer, although the price in dollars looks a lot more than we're paying, when you check the details, the price they have been quoted is a 2 for 1 so really it's just swings and roundabouts. It all comes out in the wash eventually and we all probably pay about the same.

What Navigator cruise are you talking about? We're booked on one in August too, the 16th August Barcelona to Rome.

Hi Maureen,

It's good to hear regent honoured the lower price for your voyager cruise. Sorry about your relatives though. We are booked for Mariner in August and I keep a watchful eye on the price via the web site. We are due to pay the balance in May. We celebrated our silver wedding onboard Voyager in 2010. Our friends from the US joined us for the occasion and we renewed our wedding vows on the ship. It was very special and lovely, my husband wore his kilt and I had a very nice dress and fascinator which the lovely hairdresser fixed well in place for me.

Have a wonderful anniversary on the cruise , and I hope you have allowed your TA to let them know of your special day, as the team onboard will mark the occasion for you. Have a great cruise and happy anniversary when it comes, Jean.

I agree that UK Regent have made an effort there but sorry about the relatives that lost out on so much money.

Jean, your 2010 trip sounds wonderful, it must have been very special indeed.
