Soda package purchased on board

Recommended Posts

So I am getting on the Breakaway tomorrow in NY (WOOHOO) and I think my wife has everything covered (although I'll not admit that out loud) except a definitive answer on the soda package.

I know that if I add the soda package to my room when I booked or any time thereafter then I would have to pay for all 4 of us (beautiful wife, lovely daughter, and son-larger-than-me) which is ridiculous as they will never use 3 total glasses combined. I was informed on this board last year that if I purchased it on-board then I would be able to simply buy for myself and not get caught in the vig of NCL, but I have heard recently that the option for solo purchase is no longer available.

Hoping someone here has recently been on the Breakaway and can say yea or nay? I am admittedly an addict and LOVE me my Diet Coke (more than my wife dare I say; I can sail without her) I am sadly good for 15 a day minimum so I would love to know. If it's all or nothing, I think I'll leave my lovely wife at home to save the expense.

I would just drop by where they are set up without your whole crew and I think they will happily take your money, I did this last fall without any question or issue.

Also, as a fellow Diet Coke addict I regret to inform you it is a Pepsi ship.

Uh oh..... NCL has NO Coca Cola products.

You'll need to carry on ALL of that, or pick some up at the various ports of call.

We are in the same situation, and load up a duffel bag of bottles of Diet Coke after we've flown to the port, and just put a luggage tag on it.

(At a few US ports, one can't leave beverages with the luggage, in which case one must carry it on.)

So we can only bring bottles of soda on board with us? We are leaving on the Dawn in July but I want to get my daughter her soda before we get on the boat since the soda package is too much

Are you asking about "bottles" vs. "cans"?

You can bring either... anything non-alcoholic, other than wine (which has a corkage fee).

We happen to prefer bottles, because we can re-cap them and minimize spillage, especially on a ship. (But it's nice on a bedside table at home, too ;))

Or are you asking something else?

As others have mentioned already, if you do not like Pepsi do not waste your money on the soda package. There are no Coke products on NCL.

Well, if others have already mentioned it, why mention it again? :D

Yes I was asking bottles vs cans

I was on the Dream last year and I know that you can't bring cans on the boats

Sure you can bring cans to NCL ships, that's what we always do.

Love the fact that NCL will let you bring whatever you want non-alcoholic on board. We sailed 3/27 with 2 12-packs of soda (used box tape to tape them together) 10 packs of juice boxes (also taped together, 5 & 5 - my son is extremely particular and will only drink 2 brands of apple juice) and a 30 pack of water for hubby.

We stacked it all on a foldable hand truck. lol!

Make sure that port allows you to bring it on, if it does, Costco has great prices

You can bring sodas in every port, the question with some (few) ports is whether you can check them in or do you need to carry them to the ship yourself.

I don't drink Coke or Pepsi, but enjoy Dew, root beer, ginger ale so the package could be fine for me. I'll have the casino drink card so that will give me enough access to sodas. There are non carbonated beverages available through the buffet and those also fill the gap.
