Carnival Pride Steakhouse

Hi all,

We are schedule to eat at David's steakhouse onboard the Pride soon. We did this back in 2010 also but can't remember much about it other than we did enjoy it.

We were looking at the menu online last night and other than large cuts of meat, nothing really seemed to be much different than what you may find in the MDR on formal night...

My question is, is it worth the 100 bucks to do this experience again? We do enjoy good steak, but are we going to find something more here than say, a filet at a land based steakhouse?

Ps- I also noticed a lot of seafood on the menu...which I do not eat so it limits me a little more.

Thoughts?

Pretty sure only you can decide if its worth it too you. My wife and I dine in the steakhouse at least once, usually more than once whenever we're cruision. However to us, nothing in the MDR compares to the quality of the food in the steakhouse, unless you consider the steakhouse selections in the MDR. Not sure I'd say there's "alot" of seafood choices on the steakhouse menu, but for us plenty, of steak choices, choices not found in the MDR. We've always enjoyed our experience in the steakhouse, enjoyed it just last week!! So for us, well worth the upcharge.

Oh and fwiw, David's on the Pride may just be our favorite steakhouse from the others we've been to on other Carnival ships.

It is the service and atmosphere in addition to the menu is what makes the Steakhouse special.

In our option the cuts and preparations are MUCH better than what is offered in the MDR - not all "steaks" are created equal in quality and taste. ;)

Thanks SO much auto-correct for deciding that I meant "option" instead on "opinion"!!

I'm having trouble imagining what they could offer that is worth 35 dollars per person on top of what you have already paid for your regular meal.

We ate at the Steakhouse on the Pride and loved it. It is only $35 per person and if you go on the first night you get a free bottle of wine to go with it. If you frequent the casino you can get the meal and wine comped...that is what we did.

Cheers and happy cruising!

Since the first time we did it on our 2nd Pride cruise, we always eat in the Steakhouse on the first evening of the cruise. We love doing this as a special way to start our cruise, and also to avoid the chaos of the MDR on the first night. We've eaten in David's 3 times and once on the Splendor and our experiences in David's were far superior to our experience on the Splendor (not that it was bad, just that it wasn't absolutely fabulous).

Enjoy your cruise and your steakhouse experience! :)

Well worth the $35. One pic was surf and turf , other cheesecake .

Costs more than $35. Remember that your regular meal isn't free, simply included. You are paying closer to $50 per person for that meal.

Just got off the Pride 5/1. We always go to David's twice each cruise. The first night is a great night to go, since you can either get a free bottle of wine, or 50% off any wine on the menu. While we enjoy the main dining room, David's is a nice place to have a special meal and enjoy the atmosphere, and the food is fantastic.

I've never ordered it, but they have a cooking demonstration during the day and this last time they served their chicken, and it was very good, so there's always that option. They servce chilean seabass too.

While at the demonstration, someone asked why one of the steaks is no longer on the menu. The chef said that the meal costs between $28-32.00 per dinner, so at $35.00, it's a bargain! He explained how the meat prices have drastically increased in the past few years, so they had to take one of the steaks off the menu.

I love the steakhouse, it's a tradition for me to go on the first night.. I enjoyed David's but my favorite is Nick & Nora's on the Miracle, followed by the on on the Splendor, David's and finally the one on the Glory.

The food, ambience and value makes it well worth the $35 to me. :o

We've eaten at David's twice (and once in Chops on Enchantment of the Seas back when she was cruising out of Baltimore). Had a great meal every time. If your idea of a steakhouse is Texas Roadhouse or Outback, then David's is way better. Conversely, if you're more of a Ruth's Chris or Smith & Wollensky type, then David's is a step down...but still miles better than the MDR! They have better cuts of meat, prepared to order (your steak wasn't cooked along with 1000 other steaks). And if you enjoy a good quality grape juice, they have a much better wine list than what you can order anywhere else on the ship (Dom Perignon, Silver Oak, etc. - Note: We brought our own bottle of wine one time and were not charged a corkage fee.). Obviously, only YOU can decide if $35pp is worth it, but you asked for our advice, so my answer is YES! Just have one less DOD each day and that should cover your visit to David's.

I'm not someone who is willing to spend money on just anything. Our first trip to David's was because my DBF wanted to try it "once". We've gone the first night on every cruise since then because I think it's worth the upcharge and is a great way to kick off the cruise. YMMV. Also, we get the shareowner OBC of $100, so that nicely covers the experience, plus an additional trip if we feel it is warranted (tip is included in the $35 upcharge).
