Anyone familiar with a Viking itinerary that includes the Amazon River?

 

We are sailing on Viking Sea that leaves 12/16/16 and does the caribbean and Amazon looks like 9 days out of 22 have to do with the Amazon.

It is a new itinerary for Viking and won't be sailed for a while so no one can give you first hand knowledge at this point. But we can confirm that it is on the schedule.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I am new to Cruise Critic - although we have taken 23 ocean cruises (starting in 1967) and 4 river cruises. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent - was interested to see that you had traveled on Home Lines Oceanic. We took 12 cruises on Home Lines, most of them on the Oceanic. We loved that ship and the crew was fantastic - truly felt like home to us. The line is long gone, but we still have very fond memories of the old Homeric, the new Homeric, Doric, Oceanic and Atlantic (though that ship rode like a cork on the ocean). Sorry for the trip down Memory Lane, but we so seldom hear of anyone who used Home Lines. Enjoy your future travels. We are booked for our first Viking Ocean Cruise in July 2017 - Viking Homelands.

There is that one 2017 trip, leaving 12/16, but that means being gone over Christmas, so won't wok for us. Come on Viking - can't you do a trip more than once a year?

Fmewman - I second your request and for the same exact reason. LOVE the itinerary.......but Christmas it the stumbling block or we would be seriously looking at booking it.

We are also looking at this cruise......but stumble when we think of being away from the kids/grandkids at Christmas. We would definitely take this cruise if another date was presented.
