Waiting for Guaranteed Stateroom Allocation Even Though Cruise Sold Out

Recommended Posts

We have a guaranteed OV stateroom on the Brilliance TA on October 17th.

The cruise is sold out so one would assume there shold be no reason for any delay in allocation, but nothing yet.

Will it suddenly pop up in my reservation or will I get an email? Is there any reason the allocations have not been made yet?

We've never gotten an email, the stateroom assignment just shows up on the website.

I have found that final room assignments do happen throughout the last weeks and days before any cruise. Even after final payment some cabins are still available even though the inventory shows sold out.

You may not find out until you arrive at the port. On 1 of our cruises, we found out the day before we set sail. Like others have said...at final payment time many cabins will open up. Lots of people cancel just before final. You will have a cabin.

As others have said, don't stress. Final payment is still a bit away so "sold out" is still a loose term. There will always be a percentage who decide not to go. RCI probably figures there's no reason to assign you a cabin now before they really know the inventory they will have to relist.

It may be showing as sold out right now, but as the final payment date gets

closer, many may back out without penalty and TA's holding cabins that they

find they can't sell (and don't want to get stuck with) will release those cabins.

My last Serenade cruise was showing sold out for months, before and after

final payment date...but a week before sail date, many cabins showed up

and many of us were granted a visit from the upgrade fairy. My very first one! :D

Thanks for the replies. Do they sometimes upgrade because of cancellations?....

I'm sure it happens, though I could not say how likely it is. Upgrades seem few and far between these days.

That's for sure!! I had given up totally, figuring the fairy had

moved off planet somewhere ;)...and then she shows up.

Probably my first and last upgrade...but at least I got a rare chance

to meet her. :)
