Check-in with one non-haven guest

They absolutely will (and should) stop folks from really abusing the system/rules (a solo Haven guest requesting that their 4 associated cabins full of relatives get priority boarding in order to get Vibe passes, etc.)

That type of requests would likely get denied.

But a solo traveler asking if their (also solo) non-suite companion can board with them? Not a problem. Or a Haven family with their (non-Haven) elderly grandparent or one extra non-Haven person? I would be shocked to see this denied face-to-face.

That type of request would likely get approved.

Calling ahead is pointless.

Not true. I called ahead (the PCC confirmed that it could be done). Then I received approval from the concierge desk via email. Then when we arrived at the port, the non-Haven guests checked-in, were escorted on-board, and invited into the Haven (by the concierge). I even posted/quoted the email from the concierge desk here on CC.

The folks working will either let you or not let you and will not care if you called.

If it approved, the check-in (paperwork, photo, key-card) will all be done in the Haven check-in area.

Plus if you called there going to just read the rule book. Folks on here sometimes I can not believe when they suggest such things seems like either they do not get todays world or hoping they can detour as many folks as they can buy getting them to not do these things lame on both accounts

I'm giving a first-hand experience which was approved by NCL. It happened.

You CAN all board together.

If you contact the concierge desk (NorwegianConciergeDesk@ncl. com), you can request that the non-Haven guest and the Haven guests board together. His check-in process will be the same as the Haven guests and his stateroom key-card will given to him in the Haven check-in area. He will be escorted along with the rest of the group.

This must be done and approved BEFORE arriving at the terminal.

This is what we experienced on the Star with my brother (although we did not arrange ahead of time). He booked an inside cabin for sleeping only, and we had booked the Garden Villa. They let him check in and board with us. Granted, there is no Haven on the Star, but they do escort suite passengers onto the ship to Moderno (where they now serve the suite breakfasts and dinners). Although, they escorted us to our villa, not Moderno. (Maybe different because it was the GV as we were not escorted to our suite on the Epic, Getaway or the Star when we were in a penthouse suite.)

Oh, and for those curious, he got all of the suite perks too. That was due to the concierge approving. We only had 4 people booked in the GV, so it was not like we were overcrowding the ship or Moderno with him having the perks. And, honestly, I think we only ate there once as it is much nicer to have it delivered to your own villa!

We experienced the same thing! And glad you enjoyed the Villa. That was superb!

Once.

The OP only asked for once. :p

I clearly stated that it isn't guaranteed but the OP wanted to know if it could be done. It can...

It isn't guaranteed nor should it be expected. It is a courtesy that may or may not be extended to the non-Haven guest.

All that a person can do is ask and hope for the best.

Try a repeat performance and let everyone know how it works out.

I'll need another non-Haven family member. My mother and sister are already in "Haven or nothing" mode.

Our experience on the Star 5-6 years ago was this: our friends decided to join us on a cruise after we had already booked an aft suite. We called out PCC and gave him their names and the date he should expect their phone call. When they booked their balcony near our suite the bookings were the linked by NCL under our name. When we arrived at the port, their names were with ours on the clipboard list for suite guest. They received their key cards with us in the suite area. We told the concierge that we would break away from the group upon boarding and quickly show them around the ship and just my husband and I ( having suite perks) would come up to Cagneys for lunch alone. Anoop absolutely wanted our two guests to join us for lunch, extending that invitation to daily Cagneys, but we declined all invitations except for embarkation day and breakfast disembarkation, as he was very insistent that they join us. Again, the bookings were linked with our suite booking at that time. I don't kow if this can still be done now, and I suggest as others have, that you call NCL for assistance with this request.

Suite dwellers are not escorted to their suites. A butler will take a big group up to the Haven and dump you there. There is no tour or anything of the like, at least in our past 3 Getaway cruise. They will show you where your room is if you ask, but each guest is certainly not taken personally to their suite. When we had suites outside of the Haven we dropped our carryi on and went on our merry way to lunch.

There is no reason that your DD cannot wait behind. You need to check in as a family, but that is it.

she is not required to board with you. You are also under no obligation to board with Haven folk.

I don't know what ship you are on, but this has been our experience

We had a prescription problem on our last cruise . We all checked in but hubs left and boarded about 90 minutes after us. Haven H7 suite.

I wasn't even in the Haven but on the Gem and both times I was escorted to my room.

Thanks that's great to know. My son's gf is staying in a single and I know he wants to be with her.

  • 10 months later...

What has been anyone's experience with non-suite rooms, i.e. balcony, that actually adjoin their suite? We are traveling next March in the owners suite with 2 balconies and have the adjoining balcony room with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. Thanks in advance for any input!
