Using Uber to get to Black Falcon in Boston

Hello - We live just outside Rt. 128 west of Boston and will be sailing on the NCL Dawn out of Black Falcon in a couple of weeks.

 

We're thinking about using Uber to get from our home to Black Falcon Terminal (arrive about 1:30 pm on a Friday). We usually use a livery car service which picks us up in a late model, clean sedan with a professionally dressed driver.

 

What do we need to request from Uber to ensure a similar experience?

If that is the service you want, use a livery service.

 

With Uber, you request a car, and you get what you get.

I've never used it but I thought UberX got you a black car.

Uber's larger cars are UberXL. But they're not universally available. UberX is their normal service.

 

They also have UberBlack and UberTaxi in some locations

Thanks everyone for the Uber information. Have been able to do some comparative pricing and found a livery for less than an UberXL or UberBlack, so that's the way we will go. Not the company we usually use, but it has good feedback on Yelp.

On the same cruise and thinking about Uber, can you share of the livery service that you are using? if I do use Uber, how far ahead do you book?

Uber is immediate, on-demand; there is no "booking" well in advance; the car should be there within 5-10 minutes. You need the app on your smart phone with an associated credit card connected to the account. You should also visit the Uber web site to see how it works.

 

For those who need big and/or fancy car, try Uber "Black" or "XL".

We are going on the Dawn in May from north of Boston - 128. About 20-25 min.- any idea how much that would cost for a car or Uber?

If you have the Uber app you can to a trial booking and it will show you the fare before you complete the booking
