Palm Beach Zoo

Hi,

We have a day to kill with the kids after our cruise (Port Everglades) and before an evening flight out of FLL and was thinking about driving up to the Palm Beach Zoo. Reviews seem to say that it's a pretty small zoo that can be seen in a couple hours.

We've been been to south Florida many times so have done a lot of the usual stuff for kids. Miami Zoo, Jungle Island, Flamingo Gardens, Discovery & Science Museum, Everglades, Jet Boat, beaches, etc.

Is it worth driving up to Palm Beach for the day and going to the zoo? Anything else to do around the zoo with kids?

Thanks!

If you are visiting in the winter (mid November thru March) I would suggest also visiting the free Manatee Lagoon (http://www.visitmanateelagoon.com/) located just a 5 minute drive from the Zoo. Florida Power and Light constructed a museum, gift shop and viewing platforms where hundreds of manatees gather at the warm water outflows of the local power plant. I'm sure you and your kids will enjoy it (our group of 4 - average age 67 - were fascinated :D).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Capriccio, we will be there in the winter so will look into the Manatee Lagoon. Just spent a few minutes on the site (thanks for the link) and it looks like the sort of thing we would be interested in.

Thanks for the recommendation on Lion Country, that place looks really cool. A bit concerned about taking a rental car through the drive through Safari. We have a "similar" drive through place here called Olympic Game Farm and the animals can really scratch up your car.

We have probably 5 hours to spend in the Palm Beach area figuring in an hour each way drive time. Not enough time to do both this and the zoo so will have a choice to make.

Thanks!
