Enchantment of the Seas Review with pics

We took the 4 day on the Enchantment last week leaving on November 14th. It had scheduled stops in Nassau, Coco Cay and Key West. This will be more of a picture review to be honest so if you like to see pics of this beautiful ship and some of the stops, then you came to the right place.

I'll kick this off with a brief review in words and then start posting pictures.

The ship is in good condition. We had a mini-suite on deck 8 and it has lots of space, more than a mini-suite on the Majesty imo. The room was well taken care of, clean and well appointed. The wood work in the room looked like it had seen better days and it needs some work but the room was comfortable, clean and the AC worked really well so we were always comfortable.

The ship itself looks to be in good shape and pool deck areas are well designed as usual and have lots of room. DS and I enjoyed the Solarium and hot tubs in there a few times. Nice and quiet in that area. All the pools are salt water, which is fine. Looking around the ship, I can see where a dry dock might be in order soon. There's a few rust spots in noticeable areas here and there, especially on our balcony. Not complaining here, just making notes.

Food for the week in the MDR was good. The only complaint I had was that the NY Strip appeared only once on the MDR room menu. I found the food to be hot and tasty all week with only one meal that I was so-so on. There was nothing wrong with it, I just didn't care for it. We did breakfast every morning in the MDR and it was excellent as always. Service in the MDR was 10 out of 10 all week. I'm always a little timid of the my-time dining on RCI. My experience is that it can be sometimes hit or miss. It was well organized this week. Food in the Windjammer was the usual fare and the 2 times we ate there we found it to be quite acceptable.

We had supper one evening in Chops. Not much to say other than excellent food and service. One minor note - when did they start puting rosemary on the strips up there? That threw me a bit so if you don't like rosemary (like me) be sure to ask that they not put it on the streak. The steaks were cooked to perfection and tender. The deserts were the usual excellent!

The initial itinerary had one minor tweak - they skipped Coco Cay. I'm about 50-50 on any cruise that goes to a private island. The weather was crappy when we arrived so I wasn't too disappointed. It wasn't long before I was happy with the change however. The weather was fantastic for our unscheduled day at sea and a plus - we got a full day in Key West instead of the usual 5 hour stop that starts with clearing Customs. so we had a full day in Key West.

The ship seemed to be fairly dead at night. I didn't find that the CD staff did much other than karaoke and bingo games. Night time entertainment was a bit of a challenge tbh. They did have an Elton John Tribute show which was good. They did the quest which was ok - its getting old I have to admit.

Lastly - a point on the casino. It was announced when we boarded that it would be non-smoking all week as a test and the post-cruise survey made mention of smoke in the casino. Personally, it made little difference to me as I don't gamble in a ship casino - might as well toss your money overboard. There were quite a number of guests that did not like the lack of warning about this and I must say I agree with them. Some may wonder how busy the non-smoking casino was all week? It was very very quiet. Any evening I wandered through and had a look there was no more than about a 20-30% occupancy in there. The last night (typically very busy) was no different. You could fire a canon off in that place.

Anyway, cruse was good, food was good, crew was good and the weather cooperated. We had a good time. I'd recommend the Enchantment to anyone looking for a short get away.

Now on to the pics - here's a tease. The EOS in Nassau

Thanks for the review and pictures. We are heading to this ship and itinerary in just a few weeks.

You'll have a great cruise I'm sure.

Here's a few more pics. I'm lagging behind but I'm doing this as I work (shhhh :) )

Did you enjoy your time at Junkanoo Beach? I'm also wondering if the walk seemed safe and if there were taxis available at Junkanoo.

We are cruising on Enchantment in February with 4 adults, 3 teens, and a 10 year old and are thinking of going to Junkanoo Beach for an inexpensive beach day. Some of us have been to Cabbage Beach before and it doesn't seem worth spending the money for Atlantis since the ship is only in port until 3:30.

Thanks,

Mary

Yes Junkanoo was fine. We've been there many times and its a quick easy walk. No need for a taxi unless you have mobility issues. Its no more than a 15 minute walk from the ship. We used to go to Cabbage Beach but like you we figure the taxi fare isn't worth it.

Thanks for your feedback about Junkanoo. Your photo review of your cruise is awesome.

So next up for us was one of my favourite stops - Key West. As I mentioned earlier we had a full day stop because we skipped Coco Cay. I'll take that trade off anytime! We did the hop on hop off City View Trolley tour as we always do. We hit up Kermits for some Key Lime Pie on a stick and stopped in at Peppers of Key West for some BBQ sauces and hot sauce. We also ate lunch at Blue Heaven Restaurant which was an outdoor venue underneath trees. It was pretty good. Later in the afternoon we hit the beach out at South Beach in Key West.

So here's a few Key West shots:

As mentioned earlier, we spent a couple hours out at South Beach in Key West. We walked there after lunch and stopped to ask for directions because anytime time I was there we always took the Trolley out there. First time we went to Key West we asked the Trolley driver for a beach recommendation and he sent us to Higgs Beach which was not a great beach - it was ok. I later found out that South Beach is a better beach. I was also told that the locals don't recommend it because they want to keep it to themselves - don't know how true that is but when I stopped and asked for directions while we were walking the girl at the store told me south Beach was 190 miles north and there was no South Beach in Key West. I guess she never went here :p:
