wolfcathorse Posted January 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2017 love Empress because I love the small ships. Boleros is gorgeous. The Cafe Lattetude that's in the entrance to Boleros serves Premium Bustelo coffee. Absolutely divine. We don't gamble so we don't care that the casino is microscopic. We ate all our meals in the WJ and it was good, they had themed nights (Italian, American, Seafood, etc). The Centrum is tiny and the seating in the theater is different than the rest of the fleet. For us older folks, it's a great ship for relaxing.

cbscanada Posted January 26, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted January 26, 2017 Thanks for the responses. I can see the Empress of the Seas review in the main section, but I can't seem to zero in on Empress topics on the message board. It is not listed when it lists the ships to read posts and I can't seem to get the search to zero in on message board posts for Empress

In the upper right corner is a "search box". Click on it. Then click on advanced search. On the next page, type in EMPRESS in the search box. Be sure that the line underneath says search titles only. 2hearted Posted January 27, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Just got off the Empress last Saturday. What do you want to know? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
crabby5 Posted January 27, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2017 We went for a 4 night the beginning of December. We really liked it but I don't think I could do more then 4 nights- we have a 10 yr old and she'd get bored. It's very relaxing and a quick walk to everywhere (we did Oasis for our previous 2 trips so it was funny that everything was close). The food was good but options are lacking IMO. We ate every dinner in the MDR and tried breakfast once, otherwise we ate lunches at WJ. I wish there'd be an equivalent to cafe promenade for snacks or even a quick pizza place. TrustMeIMaGator Posted January 27, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2017 I am interested in knowing more about the everyday Sunday brunch with Mimosas and Bloodys. Did the bunch follow the same Breakfast hours for the WJ and Main Dining? Is it limited to one drink per person?
2hearted Posted January 27, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2017 The brunch was only on sea days, not every day. They say only one drink, but my wife and I had a few from the waiter. Honestly, it was the only decent buffet food we had. On the ship. It was in the main dining from 9:30 to 12:30. They say only one drink, but my wife and I had a few from the waiter. Honestly, it was the only decent buffet food we had. On the ship. It was in the main dining from 9:30 to 12:30. This is true that brunch is only in the main dining room on sea days, however according to this CC page, http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=1103&pgtype=dining Free brunch mimosas and Bloody Marys are available at the Windjammer on port days, although this was not clear in the daily Cruise Compass schedule, so some passengers were not aware of this. That same page also makes it sound like they are bottomless (aka unlimited) while in the main dining room. Just wanted to get first person experience as that may change my decision on the drink package for the week. 2hearted Posted January 27, 2017 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2017 If you are a beer drinker, the package is not worth it. Worse beer selection ever. Not even a single IPA or wheat beer other than Blue Moon. They also sold drink cards for $60, which was a good deal. Don't get me wrong, it was a good cruise mainly for how little we paid for it. cbscanada Posted January 28, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted January 28, 2017 That's very kind. Have done larger ships and longer cruises as well and we are doing 5 days on Empress and am a bit worried - pretty easy going so I think it will be fine. I might have some specific questions with time. Thanks again! CBS
pmck Posted February 26, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 26, 2017 I don't see anything on Empress of the Seas and it is not even a category when the ships are listed. Any reviews, tips, etc. I asked that same question when I was looking for Empress info and was told that the reason that it's not listed is because it's a 5 day vs 7 day cruise. Rare island lady Posted February 26, 2017 #17 Share Posted February 26, 2017 This thread makes me smile...along with any other threads relating to experiences on Empress. I am just off the Serenade 1/13 cruise. We were sitting in the theater chatting with a couple waiting for the show to start, who told us they had booked Empress. I told them there were a lot of reviews to research on about the ship. Without being asked, a very loud (and obnoxious the entire cruise) Pinnacle lady on the couple's other side snapped at me telling me the Empress had NOT started her sailings yet!:o I just smiled at her, and said..."OK". I guess she thinks everyone is making up their experiences on the little ship, eh??!! ;):eek:
